Later this week, Chris Pine will, as far as I can tell, become the first UC Berkeley graduate to host Saturday Night Live.

But after this week, Pine will be one of two UC Berkeley graduates who can say they've hosted SNL.

Who is the other one?

Nope.

Jerry Mathers made a cameo on SNL in 1980, but he didn't host (Rodney Dangerfield was the host). Wozniak has never hosted SNL.

Then it's gotta be Adam Duritz or Harry Shearer.

Bingo.

Jonny Moseley hosted SNL on March 2, 2002.

(Timed to that year's Winter Olympics, in which he didn't medal -- he won Gold in Nagano in 1998.)

Watch his monologue here:

Two months later, on May 17, 2002, Jonny Moseley was UC Berkeley's commencement speaker -- and students were pissed.

The speaker the previous year was (the controversial) Janet Reno and the year before that was Madeleine Albright, who was heckled.

So UC Berkeley, a great educational institution, could only land a 25-year-old UC Davis dropout -- albeit, one with an Olympic Gold Medal.

But Moseley was humble in delivering his address to the Class of 2002, which included Chris Pine.

A couple years later, Moseley enrolled at Cal and graduated with the Class of 2007.

Darn. I was going to guess Sonny Dykes. I read on BI that his clown show was a real hoot. Also, didn't he win "Best Straight Face in a Comedy Role" for his 2013 performance on The Drive?

I'm fascinated by Chris Pine's grey-haired-ness. Mostly because I'm also still in my 30s and am noticing a lot of grey hair.

Pine is just 36. He was a student at Cal when Tedford was hired. And yet he's already "old."

Life, as they say, comes at you fast.

Also, I looked it up, and his dad was just 36 when he started on CHiPs...and he was also going grey.

We'll actually get to see his hosting gig live on the West Coast this Saturday at 8:30 pm. Just like we did when Jimmy Fallon hosted a few weeks ago.

I still remember a ridiculous-but-still-kind-of-funny skit in that episode where Jonny Moseley is this superhero who "flies around the world on a never-ending dinner roll" (the 'dinner roll' was his signature trick) and he would solve problems. He made peace in the Middle East by dropping a pizza from the sky, over which the combatants found common ground because everyone loves pizza. (Couldn't write that with a straight face.)
