I agree with Ted Miller's comment that a near-win over Texas serves USC better than if they had walked all over them as they did vs. Stanford, and this does NOT help help Cal when we face them this week.

Wat? Ted Miller and his then pregnant wife meet Justin Wilcox in 2008 @ Boise and Ted Miller strikes up a friendship with him. Over the years Ted calls him up late at night and they talk about their dream assistant coach hires and other stuff coaches and reporters love to talk about in private. Come 2014, Wilcox gets hired by $C and drops off the map. Wilcox doesn't call his superfriend back and doesn't take his calls. Thanks $C.

What the hell people? This podcast is super dark and ya'll need to listen to it because it is so gut wrenching if you can understand the context and hate $C.

It starts @ the 4:40 mark when Ted Miller and his then pregnant wife have to move from Seattle to Arizona because he just got hired for a new job. So Ted in his infinite wisdom decides he needs to visit Boise State with his family on the route down to Arizona because he hasn't seen Boise state before. Well low and behold, none of the other staff are around. So Justin Wilcox having no idea who Ted Miller at the time is or was decides to take him on a grand tour of the facilities etc. etc. Over the years they become superfriends, with Ted calling Justin every now and then and getting feedback on whatever it was he had in mind via phonecalls, voicemail etc. Everything is fine. PERFECTLY FINE.

Fast forward to 6 years later.

Tequila Steve hires Wilcox as DC. Tosh Lupoi is out of the mix because of some NCAA investigation. He's left with Sirmon as LB coach, Nansen as RB coach I think and a bunch of other coaches some he likes, some he doesn't. I dunno this part is all blurry.

Key to WIlcox's hiring at Cal was he needed the best coaches ever.

That wasn't happening to him at $C.

Now Wilcox not only has the coaches he wanted, he has the coaches he needs.
