This guy is doing a lot of soul searching and there are always hypocrisies in the process but I'm not buying the sell on his character.

If you're writing texts similar to Anderson's you may need to get out, too.

He looks like an honest man to me - not a me first guy. No wonder so many young people here are mystified by his actions - they are so pure.

The guy seriously lost his way. If he was "in it for the kids" he'd still be there. Coaching is teaching and teaching is seeing small, incremental improvement in your staff (if you're the head coach), and your players. You forget the scoreboard and you focus on what you can control. Texting a reporter was the beginning of the end. That has nothing to do with teaching.

A player addicted to codeine before you even draft him should return the guaranteed $37 million after you cut him. That is not the case here.

Sending these texts to a reporter is just plain bizarre. Anderson clearly had lost any sense of leadership with his staff and the team. There is a clear theme of blaming his coaches & the players.

That said, no football coach in his right mind walks away from $12.6M, unless there is something very very very ugly is being covered up. If that's not the case, then Anderson appears to have suffered a complete mental breakdown.

I don't think it's youth or purity that has everyone mystified. This is confusing to everyone with an ounce of common sense.

I disagree with you about Anderson being honest. His texts clearly blame the coaches he hired and the players he recruited. The honest message would have been "I've completely lost the team & coaches, so it's best for everyone if I leave."

Instead, Anderson plays the "woe is me" game. Bizarre to have sent those texts to a reporter.

Couldn't he have just taken the money and donated it to Puerto Rico?

His agent and attorney must've had a heart attack.
