Did he break JJ Arrington's 1 year rushing record?

That's pretty interesting that 1\2 of Heisman runner ups the past decade have been furdies.

I think it's a function of having a consistently great OL, recruiting a couple superstar playmakers every year, staying relatively injury free (juice?), and not being popular or liked enough as a team and university.

Ron Gould is a miracle worker.... wished he was Cal's RB coach

Coach Gould does a great job. That said, Love is incredible and his OL is NFL bound n

Meanwhile, Cal has had one runner-up in the last 43 years. It would be nice to get 5 in 9 years.....

This is a serious question that may come across as a stupid question:

Would you trade Aaron Rodgers and Jared Goff for those four players and five years of being runners-up?

Yeah, it's apples and oranges.

A few nights ago, Manti T'eo made a tackle for the Saints, and the announcers brought up that he was a Heisman runner-up. And I had totally forgotten about that, even though he's had a solid NFL career.

Heisman winners and runner-ups tend to disappear.

But if you're team is producing that many years of runner-ups that means they're doing something good.

On the other hand, Rodgers and Goff (if Goff turns out to be a playoff-caliber QB) can be great publicity for the school.

I would trade Rodgers and Goff for the four guys LSJU had in a heartbeat (hmmm 4 for 2, the math tells me I should take this offer). The LSJU guys produced championships results, including a Rose Bowl win, while on the Farm. That is the bottom line.

I really don't care what Cal guys do after leaving Berkeley....

For one who followes the Chargers, i would take exception to Manti having a solid NFL career. W when not injured he was r okay but not solid. I wish him well with theSaints

I think Furd owes Larry Scott's TV contract a thank you for all those second place finishes.

I'd rather have Aaron Rodgers (finished 9th in Heisman race) or Jared Goff (not a contender) than Andrew Luck.

I'd rather have Marshawn (did not finish in the top 10) than any of the Stanford running backs.

Imagine what Cal's RBs and QBs would've done with furd's OL...

A defense and one of the best OLs in the country are more responsible for furd's championships. There is no way that any of the furd's RBs were/are better than Marshawn and Luck was/is not better than Rodgers.

Luck was a pretty darn good QB in college. At least as good as AR, though it's pretty hard to make a comparison like that because...

... like you say, the OL (and the rest of the team, too). Classic example is CJ Anderson being a better NFL back than Stepfan Taylor.

Bowers still wouldn't be able to throw 15 yards downfield. Even the Steelers OL couldn't fix that.
