That was the first time I heard her do PBP, and she was great. I don't know if her dad still lurks here (congrats to Teford and Fresno State), but it had to be a proud daddy moment. Mic-woman to play by play caller. What a baller. One of our own!

I'm not sure about great, but I can think of a lot that are worse, including Joe Starkey. She probably needs to hide her love of Cal a little better down the line if she's not calling games directly for Cal as announcers aren't supposed to have rooting interests. But she's got some ability that should only improve with experience.

Yah it's a feel thing, and she'll keep getting better. It's a regional Bay Area broadcast and Ted Robinson homers it big time for Furd, so I don't blame her. I can hear Roxy doing his best to reign it in when he calls Cal basketball.

I didn't know she was the first woman ever to do PBP on Pac-12 Networks. Congrats Kate!

She was fine. Not great but not awful. I actually thought she was overly excited when Idaho State made modest plays. Her cadence was a little too showy - more like a features announcer, color commentator or sports radio broadcaster than play-by-play announcer. My guess is she'll improve.

A good role model for her in that area is Dan Fouts. He is the ultimate professional when it comes to suppressing his hatred, contempt and bitterness when he is on the broadcast crew of a Raider game.

I enjoyed her work. Way above the usual college game knuckleheads.

I noticed immediately how there was a competent voice covering a Cal game - it was almost jarring. Kate has a depth of knowledge about Cal sports that the others don't, and it adds to the viewing experience.

I'd take Kate over any of the other knuckleheads every day of the week.

Days of unbiased PBP announcers is long gone. They are unicorns now.

Was great to hear her call the game. Sure with more experience she will get even better but was great to hear her call the game. I think tried to hide the pro cal side by being excited for Idaho state when possible.

I loved her. I would enjoy having her call every game!

I thought she was very polished, was not aware of her background. Kennedy, OTOH while very knowledgeable could have at least feigned just a little more enthusiasm about being there. If it's not UW it's not that important.

Kate Scott will get better at PBP. It's more difficult than it look. I'm glad she's getting a shot.

Yes, I was being sarcastic. I am surprised they let him near a Raider game telecast booth.

I would also like to add that I found Ms. Scott extremely likable. I don't feel that way about many broadcasters.

As for why some people don't like Joe, is he not specific enough in his description of what's going on? I always felt he could be speaking ghibberish, but I could still figure out what was happening well enough from is tone of voice alone.
