TCU went 6-6 in the regular season against the following teams (with those teams 2018 win/loss records noted), and TCU's victories in Bold:

Southern (an FCS team) (7-4): W 55-7
@SMU (5-7): W 42-12
Ohio State (12-1): L 40-28
@ Texas (9-4): L 31-16
Iowa State (8-4): W 17-14
Texas Tech (5-7): L 17-14
Oklahoma (12-1): L 52-27
@ Kansas (3-9): L 27-26
Kansas State (5-7): W 14-13
@ West Virginia (8-3): L 47-10
@ Baylor (6-6): W 16-9
Oklahoma State (6-6): W 31-24

Knowing next to nothing about these teams, it looks like TCU's best victory was against Iowa State - all their other wins were against a FCS team or teams that couldn't advance beyond 6-6 for the season.

That said, they did manage to put up 28 points against Ohio State and 27 against Oklahoma, while keeping Baylor to 9, SMU to 12, Kansas State to 13, and Iowa State to 14.

This suggests to me that it should be a pretty interesting game, with the Bears having a decent chance at pulling out another W.

Go Bears!

Reagor on TCU (#1) has wheels and they use him in a variety of ways. Probably their best offensive threat.

For stupid reasons, I actually watched a number of TCU games this year. At some point they lost their starting qb. I don't think he was very good. But the backup was pretty mediocre as well. The offense reminds me a lot of Cal. Every yard gained a struggle. Lots of 3-out. And NEVER any sustained rhythm. This will be a brutally low scoring affair. 16-6, Bears I say.

From a TCU press release I think:

Quote:

TCU and Cal will be meeting for the first time on the gridiron. The schools have scheduled a home-and-home series for the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

TCU is 6-0 versus Pac-12 opponents under Patterson. Most recently, the Horned Frogs rallied from an 18-point deficit to defeat Stanford 39-37 in last year's Valero Alamo Bowl.

Any chance we get Cameron Goode back for the bowl? What a trio of LBs that presents to the offense.

Or Mekari and Noa? Our offense needs all the help they can get.

Wilcox said he was out for the year.

Wilcox said Mekari is out for the year. He has not said that about Noa. I would expect him to play.

TCU has been pretty successful since Gary Patterson took over in 2001. His record is 166 - 63. They dominated the MWC before joining the Big - 12. Since then their results are uneven, several top 10 finishes but some of 6-6 and even one 4-8. If anyone's interested, the best source for info is https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/texas-christian/

They're not to be overlooked. This should be a close, low scoring game, in other words, the usual for Cal this year.
