This game was supposed to be a dogfight and it pretty much was. Ole Miss played very well and Cal has to step up and beat them. This was a solid game from Cal on both sides of the ball and the Bears keep their top 25 ranking for another week.

If the offense builds on this game, the Bears could be something special this year. Receivers look really good. Expect a good game next week.

Go Bears!!

frame where his knee hits. Almost certainly a TD:

Nah
Agreed, from that angle I see a knee definitely outside the end zone and nothing that shows where the ball is definitively.

unless his femur is 1" long the ball is clearly beyond the plane and its not very close

90% of the time, this would've been ruled a TD on the field

Dunno, his other arm comes down well in front of the line. Very possible both arms are actually in front of it. Again, the camera angle sucks.

Also, not a great job by that receiver. Needs to be more aware of where the line is and how important it is to be over it.

I must be looking at something else because it still doesn't look in. And the side judge was standing right in front of it. They should be salty about the timeout they took early in the half.

He's pretty clearly leaning forward at the waist, I don't think it's nearly as definitive as you think.

Exactly. Look at where his other arm lands.

Side Judge had the best angle. And he called it no TD. I agree.

Actually they seem mostly bitter about the coach and the clock management.

I think the numbers say you should.

But I get it, our defense is supposed to be our strength. And it seems our best power RB was not available.

Given a well designed scheme by BB and change in play calling, I was wondering why you don't have Garber under center on that 3 and 1?

Exactly!!!! Going shotgun on 3rd and a foot is stupid. Makes it 3rd and 5.....Texas made the same
Mistake against LSU.

Cal should have run a better play (even qb sneak) on 3rd down.

Punting is probably the right move most of the time. But in this case, a decent argument can be made to go for it, primarily because Cal's defense was gassed. You win the game with one play. And even if you don't, your defense still can play to keep them out of the end zone.

It's tough to win in the road. Cal has beat Washington and Ole Miss on the road. It's a testament to the mental toughness and how the coaches prepare our kids. Great job all around this year. To start 4-0 is huge. Love Wilcox and his staff.
Absolutely! And this win was done with a lot of key players out of the game.
basically without a run defense.

don't think the ball crossed the goal line...and Ole Miss had blown their TO

I think the ball did cross the goal line. But even if if didn't, I don't understand how they don't review it.
At that time with 8-10 seconds left and no TOs Ole Miss could not stop the clock. The refs had to, but with Ole Miss rushing about to get one more play in the refs did not do it. Not on Ole Miss, but the refs. They should have blown the whistle immediately and I think we may still be in OT. They didn't and we can rattle Bear Territory. God only knows Cal has lost its share with cra**y refereeing. Karma.

On the disputed catch. Doesn't it make a difference on when you think the player has control rather than when his hands are on the ball? His momentum was clearly taking him out of the end zone, so it seems like he may not have been ruled to have control over the ball until he was out.

This is of course a moot discussion because they would have missed the 2 point conversion anyway.

Ole Miss couldn't allow the time for the booth to make that decision. There were less than 10 seconds left and they had no way to stop the clock. Once they snapped the ball, no review is possible.

Not only are we 4-0, not only did we beat an SEC team (and an SEC team not named Arkansas) on the road, but I believe this is the first time in 10 years (someone can check) that we've won a game immediately after being ranked.

I do sense that Weaver may have taken a little longer to disengage with Corral coming out of a few tackles, and not necessarily just to have time tick off the clock.

I understand why Ole Miss needed to hurry and that its not reviewable if the ball is snapped. But that doesn't mean the booth shouldn't have quickly called down - though given the mayhem I understand how it played out.

As a practical matter, the booth probably wants to take a second look before calling down and there wasn't time for that. If I'm an ole miss fan, I'm arguing that anything close in that situation needs to be reviewed and the booth should know that. And in fairness, I think that's right.

I think the larger issue is that Ole Miss' clock management on that last drive was awful and they put themselves in that situation.

It cuts both ways, it's also kinda B.S. if they stop the clock and it turns out not to be a T.D.

Yep. This pretty much sums up their comments. (although, one Rebel did think Matt Carrol (sp?) should
enter the transfer portal immediately)

NOTE: I've cleaned this up

Okay I'll jump on board with all you hysterics after that last drive. That was f*****g awful clock management. Shoot ourselves in the foot from the get-go burning a timeout needlessly. And to top it all off we get down to the goal line AGAIN and can't make it happen. I don't even care that last pass play was a TD, we didn't deserve to win that game. **** it all.

Lots of short passes over the middle on that drive, burned a lot of clock. If they didn't connect on the deep shot they would've been screwed.
