I'm a big fan of field rushing. Think it's one of the best traditions in sports. This was the greatest Field Rush I've ever been part of. The cathartic level of joy from Cal fans was off the charts. After 10 long years in the wilderness the Axe is finally coming home. Go Bears!!!

Just glad Cal has a generous donor who has in the past covered the cost of field storming fines. Don't know if this fine applies to away games but just glad Furd administration has done away with having riot gear squad in front of Cal student section. That was a bad look.

Our students were on fire today. Usually don't love in-game collective swearing, and didn't join in but great energy and band half time show was one for the books. Here's to the rally comm team, the band and all the youngins who are now a part of this lifetime grind of Beardom.

Best part is if there were a fine it would have been on Stanford. Home team is responsible for securing the field. Win win!

However, it can be very dangerous. Several years ago, fans ran on to the field following a game and knocked over a disabled person who was in a wheelchair. Fortunately, some players saw what happened and raced over to protect her from being trampled by excited fans. Quite frankly, they probably saved her life.

Nope. I think running on the field should be strictly forbidden. Sure, it would be another tradition down the drain But the potential danger makes it one that should be assigned to the dustbin of history.

Just one person's opinion.......

Lol. Everyday 3300 people die in car crashes and several dozen falling in the shower. I've never heard of anyone dying during celebratory field rushes though. Yet I'm guessing those afraid of fatal accidents during post game celebrations probably drove and took a shower that day.

I don't know man, with someone named "71 Bear" I wouldn't be too sure about that. I may have to take that action. So if he didn't either shower OR drive today, then I win the bet, correct? This is a parlay?

I vaguely remember Cal being fined for having people rush the field. Will Stanford be fined for letting Cal fans rush the field?

Not a problem. The beauty of the website is that it allows for many opinions from many different points of view. I think it is easy to overlook situations that don't easily fit in predetermined boxes. This happens to be one of those......

And if you plan on rushing the field next time, remember to zip up your orange jumpsuit. Was that a Cal fan or someone escaping from prison? see video at 0:04.

And one of the beauties of getting older and life is we hopefully gain perspective and understanding for others, so that we realize just because we have a thought doesn't mean we have to insert it into other peope's good time. We just let them enjoy their moment. You should try that.

??? U.S. auto fatalities in 2018 were estimated at 40,000., a little more than 100 per day. But yes, you might be more at risk driving to/from the game than rushing the field.

In the US correct, worldwide it's 1.25 million. Guessing most are in the third world but you get the point.

what! What a way to tie the ends together!

Anyway: rushing the field is what makes college sports great. Take that away and I think they should take away the sports all together. What's the point if you aren't PART OF THE GAME. Spectators are for pro games. We participate and create the traditions of our schools. We, especially the current students, belong on that field after this type of win as much as the students who played. Unless it's just a business. And then can we stop pretending these guys are students of our schools and stop pretending to send them to class and stop associating the team with the school? Cal band can go play for the Warriors or A's maybe. RC can go do a showdown over the Stanley Cup. Etc.

People who want the people kept separated from the game after bit wins or upsets don't like college football, IMO.

I don't like pro sports because there is zero connection with the fans (outside of Green Bay).

Nailed it.

I'll also say the crush in the center of that mosh pit was unlike anything I've ever experienced. I mean people were just so extraordinarily joyful. Tons of random strangers hugging each other and chanting "Bear Territory". It was also pretty hot (entire game was pretty toasty toasty in the stands and the crush of 5,000 Cal fans at midfield didn't make it better).

I will now (grudgingly) give credit to Stanford for not rushing us off the field. We were out there for a loooong time. I'm that way they handled this much better than our own security at Cal has handled our recent rushes.

I jumped the fence in the STANFORD end zone and juked out a security guard. I stopped he told me I could not go on the field when 20,000 other people where there already because I jumped the fence. I was like this is horse ***** I told the guard I will comply and go around and see you right here on the field in 2 minutes. Anyway talked to the Garbers family and congratulated them. They told me Chase likes big games. I told them you got a gamer on your hands. Was a great win

Yeah, credit where credit is due: My kids and I were rather late arrival to the field. No hassles, we got to hang out down there as long as we wanted. Oooh, everybody crowded around somebody, is it a player? (Game had been over for 15 minutes.) OMG, it's Evan Weaver! Got pictures of my kids with him, which will be treasures. Almost didn't want to pester him, but he was just hanging out, enjoying the interactions.

Thanks for that, Furd.

You're very kind but you give me far too much credit. And I looked anything but esteemed when I was running around the field high-fiving everyone I could find like a lunatic. I even hugged Jim Knowlton, which I think kind of freaked him out. But yeah, field rushing is the bomb.
