I finally got to my recording of the Big Game on my DVR to watch it in its entirety. New to me, or maybe I haven't noticed it before, is the group of Cal Rally Com and Stanfurd Rally Com kids holding the axe, staring intently at each other. The P12 film crew would occasionally flash to the sideline with the two groups staring at each other, almost like a hypnotic state. The Cal Rally Com kids standing empty handed, and the Stanfurd kids holding the axe. When did that start, as when I was at previous Big Games, I never noticed it before ? Any comments ?

Fortunately for the kids, the stare down only occurs in the last few minutes of the game. However, it seems kind of silly and unfortunate that some of the biggest student fans (based on the fact that they're even on the respective rally committees), have to spend the last few minutes and the most exciting part of the game staring at each other and not being able to show emotion about the pending outcome especially in a game that came down to the wire. Maybe taunting each other would be better? In any case, the run afterwards is much worse than the stare. I say that they should just take the axe and parade it around triumphantly!
