That was a tough matchup for us, especially with AZ seemingly extra motivated after losing to furd. The schedule eases up a bit for us now, and continues to get easier. furd is good, but not a physical mismatch like several of our recent opponents have been.

This is a pivotal point for me. With the team having finally figured itself out, largely (backcourt is still unsettled), and Bradley and GA healthy and reintegrated, and the schedule a little more forgiving, I'm looking for Cal to play it's highest basketball of the season now. Going forward, I want to see the Bears not only play quality basketball (as they have mostly over the last couple weeks), I want to see wins. Against the remaining regular schedule, I want to see at least 4 wins (out of 8 games), plus at least one win in the conference tournament. Then I want to see an upper conference team next season with legit potential for ncaa bid.

Give me a puff of that before you put it out.

I expect we will play ferocious defense against the tree. We will either win or they will squeak by...

You just got it. You're welcome. And while you're at it, why don't you share yours that lets you follow something you don't believe in.

We should defund cal basketball and divert that cash to football. Who has time to wade through several more seasons of inept, nom-entertaining basketball?

Today's game was a major step back.
Lots of quit and frustration showed up today.
I'll believe in progress if we see a 5 and 4 record from here on out as you predict.

I will be surprised and disappointed if Cal doesn't play a ferocious game against the Tree. if your mascot is a tree, this suggests you have a p***y nature. Folks should beat you up for that reason alone. Don't want to get beaten up???man up and become something ( anything) besides a treewith big eyes no less)
Darwin would have scoffed that anything could have produced this affront to human eyes and sensibility.

Arizona is definitely corrupt. But no more than many other programs. Kentucky? North Carolina? Kansas? The list is long.

I'm more concerned about how bad our team is. Our offense is putrid. Bad spacing. Too many turnovers. REALLY poor screen setting. Poor shooting. Too much running to the ball. How about setting an off ball screen? Why have Lars catch the ball at the top when he is no threat out there? It is really easy to see why we are scoring less than one point per minute.

Really comes down to a lack of talent. We have very few PAC 12 level players on the team. Decent players. I'm sure great people. But not PAC 12 level players.
Yep. We have one good player--Matt Bradley. No one else is Pac-12 caliber. Our starting lilneup is bad, but adding insult to injury, we got 4 points off the bench today. Arizona got 19. We are clearly the worst team in the conference, and it's not even close.

It's not a prediction, it's an anticipation. And to be clear I'm looking for 5-5 (assuming a fifth loss will likely come in the tournament), although that win in the tournament would likely be a tough one. I could be ok with not quite hitting that 4 or 5 win mark depending on how the games actually look.

If you don't think that's reasonable then you haven't seen the difference in how the Bears have played the last couple weeks against really tough matchups.

Without a doubt, the Bears were absolutely terrible. The effort was horrible, the team appeared to be sleepwalking. Right now the only guy that comes to play every day is Joel Brown. Wish his effort was contagious. And just an observation, but Betley is a turnover machine. Bradley struggles a bit there as well. Sometimes it looks like he makes the game more complicated then it needs to be. Hope things regroup this month. We'll see what kind of character these guys have.

I think Grant's weight (and strength?) loss while he was out cought up to him. He just didn't look like the same player in either game in Arizona. I also think Bradley appreciated the passing that the team relied on while he was out, and came back deterimed to look to pass and not just look to shoot. Unfortunately, he is (at least for now) a much better shooter than passer. I still want him to work on his passing. If he can learn to dish, he will be a more effective player.

I understand that's the general viewpoint about Bradley, but I actually have always seen him as a willing and deft passer (different from assist volume). It's one of the reasons I have such a high opinion of his overall game. I realize I'm probably in the minority on that, and the stats, such as they are, don't support my position. I think this season has been a really weird one for him, starting with Foreman acting like Don Coleman the first couple games. And then the injuries.
I'm personally not bothered by how much passing MB is it is not doing right now. Considering how much Cal needs him to score, I don't feel like I see an inordinate number of bad shots from him.
Again, I think cal has had no ability yet this season to play in a rotation rhythm as a team for any stretch until now. I think they're there now and I'm looking forward to seeing how they look in these furd games and for the remaining stretch.

Matt tries to lead, but also defer to his teammates

but in the first 2 games back vs the arizonas he saw that his teammates (except Kelly) weren't getting it done, so he took charge

I think that's exactly what he should do. play within the offense, but if it bogs down, make things happen
