Agreed. Now when we are losing I can think "Well, it could be worse, we could be playing this game in North Korea."

These can't be real right? Punishing a team for getting fouled? I suppose those three-point dunks would be seriously earned!

Huge incentive to hack bad free throw shooters.

No one ever said the North Koreans do something that we should emulate. Well, other than the ex president, but no sane person.

Supposedly, Kim Jong Un used to be QUITE a player, holding the national (any level) single-game scoring record of 200 points. As legend from that game has it, his team was trailing 215-208 with only seconds remaining, when KJU got a defensive rebound, went coast to coast, TOOK OFF FROM THE TOP OF THE KEY and made the 8-pt slam dunk to win the game, 216-215.

A former North Korean sportswriter told a slightly different version of the story, in which KJU's team was actually behind 215-205 and, after the amazing dunk that ended the game, the officials decided to award KJU and his team eleven points (8 for being at the end of the game, plus 3 for it being a slam dunk) and that was actually how his team won. That has been hard to verify, however, as locating the sportswriter has been problematic.

Maybe Rod (Benson or Dennis) can provide some details.
