That is what kills me. The military requires obedience to authority. Cal is probably the school most known for questioning authority, challenging assumptions, and where students are left to sink or swim, with no one telling them what to do. We cannot have a coach that demands "yes sir!" and is not open to dissent, input, feedback and ideas from his or her players. Military, and military academy experience least prepare you for success at Cal. Our prototypical top (McDonald's All American) recruits (other than local guys like Kidd and Powe) are Jaylen Brown and Shareef Abdur-Rahim, who both came to Cal for the academic offerings and liberal, intellectual or progressive campus culture. We need to embraces that as our comparative advantage, not fight it. There are many coaches out there better than Fox, but especially a far better fit as the basketball coach at Cal.
