Goofy question probably, but I want to be sure. I plan to go to the stanfurd game. I haven't been to a basketball game in several years. Can I still buy tickets at the door?

According to the link, "Tickets are also sold on game day at the Maples Pavilion ticket windows on the north side, based on availability. For more ticket information, contact the Ticket Office at 1-800-STANFORD."

Maples Pavilion - Facilities - Stanford University Athletics (gostanford.com)

I hope it's accurate.

If they have 7 healthy scholarship players and decline to play us I believe they would forfeit. With all the players that stayed a 5 th year I bet they have 7.

How is it decided whether a team has 7 healthy scholarship players? Is it on the honor system?

Is there anything to stop a team that, for example, has 7 or 8 healthy scholarship players but missing its 3 best players from telling the opponent and the conference office, "Sorry, we only have 6 who are healthy; let's reschedule this game for late February."

IIRC, All these situations are now being reviewed by the league as of an announcement last week. Get caught lying and you forfeit.

Is is even possible to confirm whether a team is being straightforward about covid test results? How are they reviewed? Does the league office get a list of players who tested positive and a record of the dates and test results? That is not likely, given health privacy regulations.

Good point. But I still think there's some serious pressure on institutions to do the right thing in regards to the epidemic. Even though ASU and Herm took liberties! And I do believe that rescheduling when possible is the desired outcome. But the calendars are already full for the season. Hard to reschedule without playing 3 games in a week. Not ideal.

We have 15 scholarship, players. 13 not hurt. Stanford has 16. Not sure how many walk ons. But if only 4 have covid that leaves 12, likely 9 scholarships left. Trying to get out of our game could prove problematic.

The Jan. 2 Cal-Stanford game would be relatively easy to reschedule; they would just move it to early in the week in February when Stanford is scheduled to play at Cal. That might be the last easy reschedule, though.

Tired of being on the wrong side of these decisions.

….and we know that even years before the pandemic, Furd had experience forfeiting an athletic contest to Cal.

Agree with you. Usually I try to take the high road but it would be nice if this thing is played out ACCURATELY. I admit, I will never get rid of my anti-furd bias, but if they play this thing straight it will help put the historic rivalry thing in perspective. It will be interesting to see how this issue concludes.
