Not a huge scoring night for Joel Brown. Goose egg.

My take away from watching the game is SC played sluggish early and then found its rhythm after their long lay-off. They are a very big and talented team that beat a decent Cal team. Cal looked better than I anticipated against this good a team. Also, pretty encouraged by this loss.Arcadiabear said:
USC didn't miss many shots and i thought we played good defense. There were a lot of contested threes and fadeaway that they made. When they did miss they grabbed the offensive rebounds, and that decided the game. it's hard because we spent all of our efforts staying in front of their men (thought defense was fine actually). Players don't have that second jump to grab the defensive rebounds (which is the part when yall pointed out we got out athleted). Pretty encouraged by this loss

Mobley's herky jerky ball handling style makes him tough to guard…..not to mention the 6'10" part.
but the player who really is herky jerky is Peterson, although he would often drag his pivot foot when doing that
I hate it when players do that herky jerky thing, and then step through and under hands the shot... seems so undignified for a D1 basketball player, but it's so hard to defend when that same player can step back, or hit that fade away shot, and he can certainly do that
That was on Grant. He didn't block out the shooter and Peterson simply followed his miss and tipped it back.bearister said:HoopDreams said:yeah, not to mention his long range shooting toobearister said:

Peterson has that sweet Larry Bird fadeaway that is becoming a lost art form like all jump shots inside the arc. How about his put back on his own missed shot. It happened so fast that you could only see it on slomo playback.
