Cal fans who went to the games this week rewarded with two losses. No surprise.
Well they saw two top 10 teams at least.

The majority of the teams that make The Dance lose to those two teams.

Agreed. Bears played well both nights against $c & fucla. They are getting better. Wish they still played in Harmon. Haas looks like a completely different place, and not in a good way, IMHO.

Turnovers and Grant MIA were the difference (although Grant had team leading 8 rebounds and 2 assists)

Too bad because we shut down their best player

Kelly with another great game against another great defense. Playing at an all-pac player level

Anyanwu played well

Funny thing is we won most of the other box score stats… we hit more shots, out rebounded them by 10, 12 assists to their 5

GO BEARS!!!!

That was more than 20 years ago. Shouldn't Cal fans have something newer to gripe about?

Bet heavy on USC when they play Bruins.

Because they're good or because you have an SC bias?

Long since back from the Haas. It was my 5th or 6th game this season and the first where I felt like it might be a super-spreader event. The maskless Bruin fan two rows behind me didn't help.

Kelly had a great game again. Love that guy. Watching a low-post scorer takes me back to the good ol' days!

2K had a pretty good game and it was nice to see Anyanwu in there battling (2 pts, 4 rebs).

We played good defense, but UCLA plays D even better. Anticevich was consistently moved 2-3 feet beyond his comfort zone.

Speaking of consistency, our three point guards, combined, scored the exact same number of points against UCLA as they did against USC... and what are the chances of that?!?

Considering we went 1-14 from beyond the arc, we must've done a number of other things right, so as not to be blown out by a good team.

Very true. Having them go 4-18 helped.

Wow, thanks for the enlightening post. Next time please don't make your posts so informational and please try to be more cynical.

The defense on this team is looking very good. The offense needs some help. Simplistic, but true.

The smart money, with no points, says Haas goes the way of Maples soon enough (family only).

By the next home games, we will maybe be over-the-hump on omicron infections (though that is the week that the corpses will be starting to pile up again). I'm hoping that, in another month or so, the pandemic will be reduced to an endemic in California.

That would be ok for the Arizona game then I would not have to go.
Go Bears!

Ken Pom shows Cal as #52 in Defensive Efficiency, which is good. However, Cal is #171 in Offensive Efficiency. UCLA is #15 in Offense and #18 in Defense. They project to be a Sweet 16 Team. No shame in losing to them, Kelly kept it close despite Grant, Brown, Celestine and Foreman playing 97 minutes and combining for 5 pts.

Really, disappointing to hear about Sam's knee. Hopefully nothing serious. He was (hopefully still is) our best shot at being an X Factor this season.

I'm hoping Alajiki won't be out too long. During the U$C game, he was sitting on the bench with an ice pack on his left knee (aparenrtly had just hurt it in warm-ups). During the UCLA game, he was in uniform, walking around okay, no wrap or anything on his knee. I forget to look and see if he was taking layups and/or shots, but I don't believe he was.
