That wasn't 10 seconds we didn't even get the ball in before that. They ran the clock down while it was out of bounds. Freakin Nike cheaters.
unless the clock doesn't reset with out of bounds, that was not 10 seconds

Someone else might've already answered this, but the backcourt 10-second count does not reset with out-of-bounds, and Cal had two out-of-bounds on that back court possession. Still, it was a quick call. It requires 10 full seconds to completely elapse, so the shot clock should show 19 before a ten-second backcourt penalty is called. What I've never understood is why there isn't a mechanical count. Relying on a ref to count it in his head is really dumb and unnecessary, and somewhat arbitrary.

I was at that game with my youngest. Very fun night. And photos with the players and Montgomery afterwards. Cobbs' game-winner in that game at Oregon was a test run for the same shot to beat #1 Arizona at Haas later that season.

I still don't know how we beat a good team by 14 with just 5 assists but 17 turnovers. We scored more than in any game except our first against LA State.

Because so much of our offense came off of high screen action, which creates shots but not via assists.
That, and Oregon shot and played horribly.

Are weplaying Grant fir defense? At this point Sam is a better shooter.
yes, Grant as a stretch four spreads the floor even if he's not hitting his shots like today

but defensively we have two bigs ... Lars and Grant. Grant plays fundamental defense and is the best rebounder on the team now that Kelly is out

Agreed, and he does lots more (moves the ball very well, sets good screens, takes care of the ball, rotates perfectly, excellent in beating full-court press, etc., etc.)

Regarding Lars, one of my favorite things as a Cal Basketball fan is when one of our players keeps making incremental progress over four years (hoping Lars takes that final step forward next season... and I expect him to.).

Agree 100% about the joy of watching quality college basketball players develop and mature over 4 years. That said, I'm pretty sure Lars has two more seasons of eligibility after this one.

Would you rather have Lars or Vanover at this point in your journey?

Vanover by a looooong shot.

Stating the obvious:

1. That dunk by Shepherd was sensational, an all-time highlight in Cal basketball.

2. Whatever is the second ugliest court in basketball, it is nowhere near as ugly as Oregon's.

The Big German will have two years of eligibility after this, because of the COVID year, but until otherwise noted, like Kelly, I'm not going to count on him taking that fifth year at Cal. (I hope they both do, obviously.)

Vanover. I think about what we'd be like with him in the lineup. I miss Connor.
Patience is a virtue, but I’m not into virtue signaling these days.

The fact that Lars has improved so much during his time at Cal, and the fact that any playing at the next level is quite a long shot, makes me believe that his chances of staying here for a fifth year are very high.
