Unless Utah beats Colorado. Then we will play Washington at 8:30. Both on Pac 12 net. I dont see an advantage of one over the other.

I'd rather play WSU than UW right now. I just think the matchups are better.

root for Colorado over Utah because Cal will end the season in 10th instead of 11th if Buffs beat Utah (who is at home in their senior game)

Has it come to this? Which double-digit position are we striving for?

Pac 12 dip**** announcers just said Cal locked in to the 12th seed. I guess The Beavers got in another game.

End of the season collapses is Haase's signature. He is done and everyone knows it. Wonder who Stanford's next coach will be?

That would be depressing.

The only way we don't get to 20 losses is if we win the National Championship or the PAC-12 Tournament gets canceled again due to a COVD surge before we can get knocked out.

Mark Fox in these last two years has already lost more games to PAC-12 opponents than Wyking Jones lost to PAC-12 opponents in his two years, more than any two year stretch in Cal history. And next year looks worse.

I did not know that. So what you're saying is that Knowlton used a search firm to find possibly the only guy who could do worse that Wyking. Good lord! FIRE KNOWLTON already!!!

To be fair, there have been more conference games in the last few years so Fox also has more wins. Specifically 8 in the last two seasons. And only 32 losses. For a nice round 0.200 win ratio.

Yes, Jones was 5-31 (.139) so by most measures worse. Both records deserved getting fired. If anything, there was some hope for improvement with Jones. With Fox, the trajectory is downward.

If you want to point out how bad Fox's teams have been and therefore he should be fired, you'll get no argument from me. But cherry-picking misleading stats and using absurdly carefully worded assertions to try to make things sound like what they're not is a bogus approach.

"We have lost more games to PAC-12 teams in the last two years than at any time in Cal history, but as a percentage, the two years of Wyking Jones were somewhat worse." 8 wins and soon to be 33 losses against PAC-12 opponents over the last 2 years.. worst in the PAC-12 over the last two years. Give that whatever positive spin you want.

It's indeed Washington State. We lost to them twice but the scores were fairly close so a win isn't out of the question. Especially if Brown can play and Shepherd goes off. After WSU we'd face UCLA, then probably USC, then probably Arizona. Am I getting too far over my skis here?

After Arizona we would most likely be in one of the first round play-in games, with a great path to the Championship when we knock off #1 seed Gonzaga.

That's a different quote than what I responded to. I'm not the one trying to spin anything. As I said, it's already plenty bad enough, but you're cherry-picking figures and phrasing to make it sound worse than it is. You forfeit your credibility by doing so.

I see 3 tiers: #1 through #5, #6 through #9, and #10 through #12. And it's a long way from our spot to #9.

And that #9 likely gets Haase fired, whereas it is likely what Knowlton was hoping to achieve when he hired Fox, and what he is hoping for if he extends him.

OSU, is just above us but they had that amazing run in the post season last year. That buys a lot of goodwill. Above them is Utah who blew up their program when they fired Krystkowiak, another coach that is better than Fox. Above Stanford is ASU, whose Bobby Hurley is also on the hot seat despite winning at levels Knowlton aspired to in hiring Fox. Then there is #6 WSU, who hired the ex-St. Mary's, Columbia, USF coach the same week we hired Fox.

Stanford would be crazy to fire Haase. It's only a matter of time before the pieces start falling into place. That's a situation that calls for patience. Lots of patience. Any great structure starts with a great foundation, which takes the longest to build and can't readily be seen because it is below ground. Give him time to lay that foundation. Piece by piece.

(pretty sure 'furd has accounted for more than 10% of our total victories over the past five years)

Pick your poison? No thanks. Haase is a much better recruiter, he is dull, rather than abrasive, but they are actually pretty similar coaches, something about the state of Kansas maybe.

I didn't have any hope for improvement with Jones. Those were fundamentally bad teams that got hot for a couple of games.

How has Haase been able to attract a few very good HS players? Monty's success at Stanford is ancient history to kids and while I haven't been in Maples in years, I don't recall that it's a great venue. I can't imagine the academics are the top lure as a couple of the best players have either gone to the draft early or transferred out.

Wsu given a 76% chance of winning. Unless Grant becomes more aggressive, I dint see a win here.you never know how wsu is going to come out., although they are playing for an ncaa berth. Does he anyone care to leave bashing Fox and Knowlton to discuss the game? Fox and Knowlton are not going anywhere. The warriors might be a good option

Haase filled his staff with good recruiters that do their research and effectively sell Stanford. He is personable and comes across as reasonably smart, a good fit for the school and can close the deal. Stanford's recent success in football probably helps too.
