Unless Utah beats Colorado. Then we will play Washington at 8:30. Both on Pac 12 net. I dont see an advantage of one over the other.
Go Bears!
Has it come to this? Which double-digit position are we striving for?HoopDreams said:
root for Colorado over Utah because Cal will end the season in 10th instead of 11th if Buffs beat Utah (who is at home in their senior game)

End of the season collapses is Haase's signature. He is done and everyone knows it. Wonder who Stanford's next coach will be?
I hear they're going to make a push for the kid from USF or possibly Randy Bennettcalumnus said:stu said:Oregon and Stanford now tied for most embarrassing collapse.RonO said:

Anyone wanna bet that we get to 20 losses? $100 straight up?

The only way we don't get to 20 losses is if we win the National Championship or the PAC-12 Tournament gets canceled again due to a COVD surge before we can get knocked out.
Mark Fox in these last two years has already lost more games to PAC-12 opponents than Wyking Jones lost to PAC-12 opponents in his two years, more than any two year stretch in Cal history. And next year looks worse.

To be fair, there have been more conference games in the last few years so Fox also has more wins. Specifically 8 in the last two seasons. And only 32 losses. For a nice round 0.200 win ratio.

If you want to point out how bad Fox's teams have been and therefore he should be fired, you'll get no argument from me. But cherry-picking misleading stats and using absurdly carefully worded assertions to try to make things sound like what they're not is a bogus approach.

It's indeed Washington State. We lost to them twice but the scores were fairly close so a win isn't out of the question. Especially if Brown can play and Shepherd goes off. After WSU we'd face UCLA, then probably USC, then probably Arizona. Am I getting too far over my skis here?

"We have lost more games to PAC-12 teams in the last two years than at any time in Cal history, but as a percentage, the two years of Wyking Jones were somewhat worse." 8 wins and soon to be 33 losses against PAC-12 opponents over the last 2 years.. worst in the PAC-12 over the last two years. Give that whatever positive spin you want.

I see 3 tiers: #1 through #5, #6 through #9, and #10 through #12. And it's a long way from our spot to #9.

What about a swap of Fox For Hasse?
I didn't have any hope for improvement with Jones. Those were fundamentally bad teams that got hot for a couple of games.calumnus said:stu said:

Yes, Jones was 5-31 (.139) so by most measures worse. Both records deserved getting fired. If anything, there was some hope for improvement with Jones. With Fox, the trajectory is downward.
How has Haase been able to attract a few very good HS players? Monty's success at Stanford is ancient history to kids and while I haven't been in Maples in years, I don't recall that it's a great venue. I can't imagine the academics are the top lure as a couple of the best players have either gone to the draft early or transferred out.calumnus said:3Cats4CAL said:

Pick your poison? No thanks. Haase is a much better recruiter, he is dull, rather than abrasive, but they are actually pretty similar coaches, something about the state of Kansas maybe.
