Once upon a time, the Pac-12 was head and shoulders above any other conference with west coast teams. This year, the WCC is close to even, same number of bids as the Pac-12, with a #1 seed (the overall top seed), a #5 and a #10, versus the Pac-12 #1 overall, a #4 and a #7. And the Mountain West had the most teams of any western conference, even if the teams are not as strong as the Pac-12 or WCC, with a #6, two #8's, and a #12 in a play-in game.
There is a potential second round Pac-12-WCC match-up between UCLA and St. Mary's. UCLA got smacked pretty badly by Gonzaga in the non-conference season, if the UCLA-SMC game happens, it sure would be good for the conference to get a win there (even if I have trouble rooting for it).
