Before we start talking about firing coaches and AD's, let's give them adequate resources.

According to the AD, we have internal agreement on one. We now just need someone to design it, figure out what costs are, start a fundraising plan for said costs, find donors, come up with the cash. So.... years and years.

If you don't want to make a move until that's built, you don't seriously care about the health of the program.

" The athletic department is moving forward with plans to build a dedicated practice facility, but the timetable for that project depends on the success of raising money to fund the building."

Is this the Athletic Department or the Architecture Department? Build the team, build the enthusiasm, then build the facility.

Exactly. A practice facility is at least 10 years into the future.

Knowlton's idea of an "agreement:"

Fans stating the obvious: "we need a dedicated practice facility."

Knowlton: " Yeah that sounds good."

Done, agreement made! *Sits on his butt collecting 925 k*

That 925K is where the budget should come from.

I believe the plan is that it would connect to Haas to the north. Can anybody confirm or correct me on that?

I believe that we need both the practice facility and the better coach, in order to be able to consistently compete at a fairly high level. The reason that we go for the coach first is that it's something we can do either now or in a year, whereas the facility is 4-5 years away, best scenario,

Correct. Practice facility Haas to North, including parking lots.

As I recall from previous reports, the "plan" is for the University to donate, or dedicate, its owned property near Haas for the project. That donation would be conditioned by producing formal plans and development cost estimates for the practice facility. As a first step, UC has officially requested submission of qualifications from qualified firms to produce such plans and estimates in order to undertake a fundraising program to assemble the finances necessary to build and outfit the facility.

You don't need a practice facility if your goal is to win zero games which we are exceedingly successful at already.

Why can't we look for a suitable building for remodel, or a suitable site for a new building, somewhere off campus but still accessible? So much cheaper, and quicker, than building on campus.

im not debating the cal plan for the multi-team practice facility, but regarding the RSF a bunch of donors contributed to improve the RSF gold gym to Cal brand the room and both MBB and WBB hold some practices there so it helped a little

but the RSF is a student facility and cal has already outgrown it. The RSF should already be renovated as its not even keeping pace with the Cal state facilities

so i don't think the RSF is a good solution beyond how it's currently being used

If this were China and they decided today that it was a project that needed to be done, they'd break ground before New Years and have it completed by the conference tournament.

Problem then would be, we'd be in China.

Following confirmation from AD that coaching change was not going to happen before this season we made the very difficult decision not to renew. We are well, Bruce in his 90's, I'm close behind. Cannot drive at night any longer. Such fantastic memories of championship and competitive basketball at Harmon. Haas sucked more than a little energy out of the student section, and now there is little tradition left--except the Straw Hat band. And where did "tuna" go?

Similar to Mama Bear, this is what I did last year. Moving on until changes are made actually feels OK.

Regarding Step 6 - Wouldn't you want to keep some of the facilities (particularly Haas) for student use including intramurals? Do you really want students to have to go to Oakland daily for practice?

Yeah you might want a new student gym or update the old one. Berkeley to Coliseum is 25/30 minute BART ride or you can offer a specific shuttle. With medical center being open you will have lots of students heading to coliseum area so a combo of Bart & shuttle would be a good idea.

There are a "few" details in my plan that need to be ironed out. Haha
