I'm not sure what's better: (1) Fans that care and ***** and moan about how things are or (2) fans that have lost all interest and no longer have interest in talking about the program?
It is the tail end of the NCAA Tournament and the middle of the coach hiring season. It is what all fans of losing teams are talking about on every message board of teams that still have fans that care.
Some of us were hoping for an up and coming Cal alum like Dennis Gates. 3 years ago we were told he didn't have enough experience. Now we are told he is too good for us. Same was true of Kyle Smith and now Todd Golden. However, it is not too late to bring in a solid coach like Travis DeCuire.
So yes, many of us are upset about the state of Cal basketball and this is the place to come to commiserate with our fellow Cal fans and vent. If there is no complaining, do you think Knowlton would get rid of Fox? He was ready to keep Wyking until all the fan pushback. The incessant calls to fire Jones actually worked.
I get that some people want to silence dissent. They are happy enough with Fox, or identify with him or Knowlton and feel sorry for him or whatever, or are just resigned to our being terrible for the foreseeable future. At least one defended Wyking too, he just defends coaches, fine. Others had no problem with everyone railing against Jones, but criticize the criticism of Fox.
I have been called out repeatedly as one of the main "offenders" and am about ready to check out as many others already have, so the handful of posters who do not like me posting facts that they don't like can have pleasant little discussions about the tremendous job Fox is doing developing players, what a good and honorable man he is, what a great Xs and Os strategist he is, what a great recruiter he would be but for the terrible place Cal is, how he is the only coach who would come here etc.
