There are a lot more inconsequential posts than this one on this site. Marks is a Bear, Nash and Durant have some local ties.

Funny since Irving and KD said they didn't need a coach. Didn't they kinda push for Nash?

If you don't think you need a coach then you really need a coach.

I wonder what will be going on in Durant's mind in twenty years, when he looks at his hands and is reminded that his only rings say Golden State Warriors on them. Prediction: the same thing going on in Irving's mind, vis-a-vis the Cavs and LeBron. Well, maybe minus the flat-earth thoughts (but maybe not).

Any chance either would be willing to coach for us? In the event Fox gets fired after this season.

That makes me wonder about how much fun it would be to watch Fox coach Durant.

Durant has reached that level of self-importance, that it would be unlikely that he would listen to anyone on a coach's salary, unless he felt really good about that coach personally. Fox, were he to have the chance to coach Durant, might be acceptable to the superstar, because Fox's players, in general, seem to like him. Of course, Montgomery seemed to be liked by most of his college players, and he failed trying to coach the Warriors. It wasn't fun for me to watch Montgomery coach the Warriors, and it wouldn't likely be fun for me to watch Fox try and coach Durant.

Durant is so typical of many NBA stars: First-class player...first-class jerk. LeBron is the rule...not the exception....

I meant "fun" in the sense of watching the personalities clash. I don't think the combination would produce the best basketball.

To me, Durant doesn't seem like a "jerk", just sort of... weird and overly sensitive. Off the court. On the court, he's unbelievable.

Not sure to what you're referring vis-a-vis LeBron. I see him as one of the good guys in sports. Poor judgement on his part, though, to think the Lakers could win by adding Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony. Okay, LeBron isn't the GM, but it all goes through him.

Lebron & the NBA are attached to the hip of Communist China financially. He says NOTHING about the tyrannical Communist regime which enslaves many minorities but yet always finds the time to trash his own country. He's a first-class jerk. As with so many people, he ventures out of his lane. He knows a lot about basketball, but, almost nothing about political matters. Hence, the expression, "stay in your lane." Or, as Laura always says, " shut up and dribble." 'If you want to find about basketball, ask a basketball player.' If you want to find about foreign policy, ask someone whose expertise is foreign policy." This obvious concept is foreign to about 98% of the population. Embarrassing is the proper word.

Any of us might act this way if we'd been catered to since we were 14 years-old and didn't have authority figures to explain that just because you were extraordinarily gifted in a sport, it didn't make you a leading authority in anything.

I think LeBron's a good American, but, yeah, I would respect some of these NBA guys more if they would come out one day in a China Sucks t-shirt... and that goes for the golden boy himself, Steph Curry. On the other hand, that's easy for me to say; it's not money out of my pocket. Heck, if the Chinese Communist Party paid me enough, I might consider doing an endorsement for them. We all have our price. Let's keep it real.

Ah, got it. I don't mind an American criticizing his/her own country, but yeah, there is a certain hypocrisy there if you then won't criticize China because of the potential billions (meanwhile you've made tens of millions or more in this country).

Yep, Durant can win a game for you, but Draymond (not to say I always agree with his style) can change a team's direction.

Umm, no. I had family members killed by the Chinese Communists and my ancestral home was also stolen by the CCP. There is no amount of money that would be enough to pay to become a stooge for the CCP. Some of us understand what honor, ethics, and integrity mean.* Unfortunately, those terms are entirely foreign to NBA superstars (and other stars) who suckle at the CCP teat.

*I recently turned down a Chinese client who offered to hire me to represent a major multi-billion Chinese-based corporation in US litigation on the condition I kicked back a payment to the client for hiring me. So yeah, I'm not just speaking in hypotheticals.

Not to speak for Civil Bear, but the comments LeBron aimed at the Biden administration (and the US) for what he deemed its failure to trade a terrorist for Brittney Griner seem applicable, here. While I'm as outraged by Griner's likely unjustified arrest and conviction in Russia, her well-being is not (and should never be) the driving force behind US foreign policy.

Also, if LeHypocrite were truly as concerned about Ms. Griner, he'd be demanding the WNBA pay their players better so the players wouldn't have to play overseas in order to earn a living as professional basketball players. Of course, he'll never say that as the money to pay the WNBA players would have to come from the NBA until the former could sustain itself. This would mean a haircut for LeCryBaby and his NBA brethren.

I'm not sure I know more than the average American about the CCP's internal workings. While I may be friends with someone who was born to CCP cadre, I'm not sure that gives me any additional knowledge of the CCP. I do know a bit of my own family's history, though (it comes with the territory of having been a history major at Cal ), and the CCP has f----d over both sides of my family. If the CCP is eliminated during my lifetime, I will be among those dancing in the streets.

As for the Furd, I'd take boatloads of money to say it's a good school, for a junior university.

I will take whatever perceptions Durant and Lebron give out in exchange for them turning around and putting together programs for their respective communities. How many kids have gone to college because of Lebron, like 600 or something like that? Sure, if you consider them "first class jerks" for the on-court contract trials and tribulations, then okay....
I don't care what reasons Durant has, and yeah, it's crazy that it's come to that, but if it's a "problem," then the league and others all have a piece in being at fault in creating the system. But, considering the salary cap, meaning revenues continue to rise, I'm not sure if this is really a "problem..."....

We won two titles with Durant. He isn't a player who drags down a team like Harden, Westbrook, Simmons, Towns, Irving, Carmelo, etc. But you mix him in with those guys and he becomes like them. He's a follower. Super great player -- winner on the floor -- but not a leader.
