I get it, believe me, but eff that paper bag s***. Show some self-respect, people. Cheer on the Bears: They're trying their best and could use our support.
F what you say. They're showing their disgust. More people should. We don't support the players by supporting an incompetent coach. And believe me, the players probably appreciate it.
With respect, TheFiatLux, I strongly, strongly disagree.
I went through the maybe-I-wear-a-paper-bag process in my mind, during (I think) the Holmoe years. Here's what I concluded: Wearing a paper bag says that you are ashamed of Cal, ashamed of being a Cal Fan, or ashamed of the athletes out there, competing for Cal. If that is the case, I would advise this: Don't
do something, don't
be something that you are ashamed of. Life's too short and you are also shaming yourself.
If you, BearlyCaresAnymore, or anybody else wants to take a timeout from following Cal Football or Basketball, fine. That is your prerogative and going to the games out of some kind of "loyalty" went out with $5 bottles of water, BART car races and, most recently, NIL.
Alternatively, post your frustrations on a Cal fan site, write a letter, contact some contacts, affect some change. The change is needed.
But no, I don't think the student athletes
do appreciate "fans" showing that they are ashamed of being fans. I think they are trying their hardest to perform their best. It's no joke to them.
The product that Fox is putting on the court is poor and that sucks. But I am not ashamed to be rooting for Cal and for the athletes representing Cal, no more than I would be ashamed of rooting for my 10 year old daughter's soccer team (also a winless season... but with a tie in their last game).
Go Bears.
