Mark Fox's best team's were 3 of 5 at Nevada, 2 of 9 at Georgia and 1 of 4 at Cal. He comes in and pushes the existing players to play tough defense and gets an immediate bump and then generally coasts downhill from there. He is just not a good coach, but is a world class excuse maker including sanctimoniously complaining about everyone else cheating while Georgia boosters continued to do what Georgia boosters do. At Cal his excuse making has been epic and he is salting the ground with the "it is impossible to win at Cal" propaganda which many buy despite Cal earning a 4 seed and finishing ranked in recent memory.

100%. The program is dying. If Miles becomes the coach, there really is no point. Just tear down Haas and build another Physics building. It would be more valuable to the university. I guess this means that he probably already has the contract and just needs to wait until his season is over before signing it.
I think we could get better attendance in a new Physics building than in Haas with another retread coach.
Plus many to all of you. Miles has shown NOTHING. And it is important to note just how much of this year's "success" (10 and 8 in conference) is a function of having a senior point guard who he inheritied.

Tim Miles sure seems like more of the same and would be an incredibly poor selection, though completely on brand for Jim Knowlton. He would literally be another Mark Fox, and his hiring would bring no energy to the program whatsoever...no excitement, no fanfare. The fanbase is already decidedly anti-Miles as a fit in Berkeley, which, perhaps unfair, seems justified. His track record at Nebraska should be a cautionary tale for Cal.
At this time, Cal sure needs a younger, dynamic leader with head coaching experience, not a 56-year old retread that has no history of building and sustaining a program.

Agree! We should want to hire a "youngish" media-friendly coach whose career is in the process of ascending... even if one of the reasons is that it's a response to the past four years.

Agreed. It is a new era. I think he could excel in it with the right backing, which I think he would be good at cultivating but I want assurance it is pledged.

I think him as a HC, plus a loaded staff full of former Cal guys is a great combo
Also, as noted, he signed transfers Norris and Ira Lee, two other Cal recruits.
Let's see if they win their tournament as it's a one-team league.

However, he recruits internationally and has landed a few top transfers like Mike Norris from Oregon, Jaquiri McLaughlin from Oregon State, Andre Kelly from Cal, Ajare Sanni from Pacific….

Roxy is a nice guy who was just trying to be nice in a situation where I'm sure he knew Fox was on his way out. I assume he'd be happy if Pasternack came to Cal.

SJSU lost to SDSU by 15. Season over unless NIT. Now Miles can start preparing for the interview.
