Which UCLA player had the brutal ankle injury at the end? He has to be done for the tourney after that.

May not be that bad after all but it looked horrible

If that guy had played Cal at Harmon Gym back in the day, the Straw Hat Band and the student section would've been driving him crazy, telling that knock-knock joke all game long, with variations...

Drew Timme is a bigger p@ussie than Derek Carr so bet heavy against the Zags at the appropriate time.

I may have to withdraw this. I was so impressed with him

Furman beats 4 Virginia

love it

The main thing about it I don't like, is that it reminds me we gave Virginia a run for their money in Haas last time they were there, and Furman was a pre-conference punching bag for us to let our backups get some playing time.

My fondest Furman memory is the midcourt courtside seat guys who sold a pair of tix to scalpers which I picked up. I just wish I had chatted him up more at the game lol, I'd always be happy to fill those extra seats.

and here we are now.

Bruins, reluctantly. And I hate that they're without Bona (not to mention Clarke (although I just mentioned him)).

That's probably mostly why I'm rooting for them. Tons of respect for those two. Love seeing their savvy and experience carry them against more physically gifted opponents.

Speaking of which, can I just say: Markquis Nowell.

I can't decide whether it is an honor or simply depressing for a mere mortal peon Cal fan to watch teams of gods hurling lightening bolts at each other. I remember when Cal basketball was like that.

Reluctantly for FUCLA because:

1. PAC 12; and

2. The Zag fans I know are every bit as arrogant as Oregon fans. F them. I do, however, respect the Jesuits.

Gotta root for UCLA (even though I'm pissed at them for leaving the conference).

Full disclosure: I am NorCal, but when I was first starting to get into basketball, as a kid, Bill Walton was at Westwood and I was a huge fan of those teams. To this day, it's hard for me to hate them, even though I relish our wins over them.

I'm starting to think there is a puncher's chance Timme's game translates to next level.

UCLA out-rebounded 49-26. But they looked better tonight without 2 starters than we looked in our last appearance without 2 starters.

No college team -- going back to peach baskets -- has ever had the number of injuries that Cal had this past season. I know because I read it on the scoreboard at Haas. Really tough break for Coach Fox.

I was referring to our last NCAA Tournament appearance but I owe everyone an apology for not mentioning the far greater impact injuries had on Fox's teams.

He said in post-game that he gave that guy the option to drive "downhill" or pull up. I think even he was shocked when the kid pulled up from 30 with 10 seconds still on the clock. But he took it confidently and he nailed it. Bruins got a pretty good look themselves at the buzzer. That would have been incredible, and sweet revenge, if Campbell had made that shot at the buzzer.

ucla executed that play to perfection and the shot hit iron

if it went down it would have brought the house down, and could have been the most dramtic end of game sequence in NCAA tournament history (3 threes in ten seconds)

Not only that, but some right wing extremists burnt one of the dedicated practice peach baskets! Only in Berkeley!

This is an injury excuse I'm buying. That UCLA team could definitely win a championship if healthy. Nwuba got dominated, and his back-up post was awful.

Matt just dove for a loose ball and the Bama player landed on him a ground his face into the court…but it was a foul on Matt for impeding other player.
