He seemed to be an academics first guy which is great. And he's getting a Cal degree just like a lot of us (yet had to grind it out in D1 athletics). It's a great accomplishment. Good luck to you Jarred.Big C said:
Great-but-not-surprising that he's a graduating Golden Bear. I feel like, if he can get himself 100%, he could be a contributor on, say, a mid-major team.
I think he's athletic. Just raw. He actually was one of our better rebounders I thought. Fox took a bunch guys who were athletic, couldn't shoot, couldn't really create their own shot, etc. Think about it, a roster full of them.eastcoastcal said:
What happened to Obinna Anyanwu? He had offers from USC, Texas, Colorado, Georgia Tech, Miami, and Oklahoma coming out of high school. What happened?
Early bloomer lacking skills needed at his size. His path has been just as I expected. I don't think he had those offers when he committed to Cal.eastcoastcal said:

Maybe there's no need for you, for some of us it is therapeutic. It isn't like Fox is reading this board and getting hurt, and if, after the four-year trauma, it helps the mental health of some of us, what's wrong with it?Deutsch said:
Now that we have new coach, there is no need to bash the prior guy. Bad situation for him and is, now resolved.

Same. If people are not ok with Fox bashing on this site, I suggest they leave for a couple years. I mean, Cuonzo still gets heat on this board and that was 6 years ago and he got us a 4 seed in the tourney. Fox is the worst coach in program history. He's gonna catch hell here for a long time.calumnus said:Cal8285 said:Maybe there's no need for you, for some of us it is therapeutic. I don't know why people still feel the need to defend Fox and worry about his feelings. He reportedly drove good kids like Bradley and Kelly to the brink, to the point transferring "saved their lives" but deprived them of a Cal degree? He has $10 million of our money to consolidate himself with. Maybe start standing up for Cal players?

I see a difference. Negative Cuanzo comments typically follow favorable comments. I don't see too many favorable Fox comments (for good reason), or Martin bashing out of the blue.BC Calfan said:Same. Fox's tenure was almost criminal. Martin's was pretty awesome until it fizzled the last year. I don't think you can easily compare the two. Some want to attribute our current moment to Cuonzo (note the correct spelling of his name, folks- misspelling someone's name is a form of disrespect), but he was simply leaving for greener, less bureaucratically complex pastures.
Bad situation for him? Retread gets hired for too much money, produces no results but gets extended, and turns in the worst performance in history while not even bothering to try and engage the Cal community or do anything real to make better things happen. I mean, shame on Knowlton, but don't try to tell me all that money for nothing was rough on poor Fox.Deutsch said:

I wish I could give this more stars. It was obvious Fox wasn't working out at end of year two, That's OK - sometimes things don't work. A seemingly OK hire can underperform. But years three and four ?!?! When dozens if not hundreds were literally screaming at Knowlton to do something. And he did nothing. I have not heard of a single person in support of Fox in the last two years.'bluesaxe said:Bad situation for him? Good luck to them.
Maybe they decided after meeting with Madsen and decided they might get more opportunity and playing time elsewhere.your right, it will be interesting to see what the roster will be like. I think Madsen will improve the roster.parentswerebears said:
I can't decide if this is good or bad for Cal. One way or the other, we now have a major roster overhaul on our hands. It will be interesting to see who gets picked up.
IMO this is a huge blessing. Not giving anything away, but I believe you will soon see Madsen has the capability of pulling in recruits that are way over the level of Fox. The more roster flexibility, the better. Every time one of these opens, we're likely upgrading.parentswerebears said:

I think only 4 scholarship players left plus two new players. More leaving than when Fox was hired.eastcoastcal said:IMO this is a huge blessing.
