Campanelli then sued Cal. His claims for civil rights violation (42 U.S.C. 1983), breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, and intentional infliction of emotional distress were dismissed in federal court for failing to state claims upon which relief may be granted. He then sued the Cal, Bockrath and Cal's general counsel Daniel Boggan for defamation in state court. And that case was also dismissed. Here is a link to the court of appeal decision upholding dismissal of the state court action, which makes an interesting read.ncbears said:

But then...incredibly the Pac 12 decided to make the fired coach who twice sued Cal, including for punitive damages, claiming they lied about him, the head of officiating for the conference! No conflict of interest there, right? I could never understand that.
