Thanks, BG!

It's a shame Kidd has to be associated with terrible decisions made by Mark Cuban et al.

GO BEARS!!!
If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock and roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band

This may be behind a paywall - but NYT on the firing of Campanelli - including Kidd comments on how it was Bozeman who got him to Cal.
NYT February 15, 1993

"Listen," Kidd continued, "Coach Campanelli had nothing to do with my decision to come to Cal. It was the assistant, Todd Bozeman, who got me. If not for Todd, I'm at Kentucky or Kansas."

Campanelli then sued Cal. His claims for civil rights violation (42 U.S.C. 1983), breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, and intentional infliction of emotional distress were dismissed in federal court for failing to state claims upon which relief may be granted. He then sued the Cal, Bockrath and Cal's general counsel Daniel Boggan for defamation in state court. And that case was also dismissed. Here is a link to the court of appeal decision upholding dismissal of the state court action, which makes an interesting read.

But then...incredibly the Pac 12 decided to make the fired coach who twice sued Cal, including for punitive damages, claiming they lied about him, the head of officiating for the conference! No conflict of interest there, right? I could never understand that.

Campanelli was one of the many hires over the years that just boggled my mind ..both football and basketball

It was absurd. And then when some of us pointed out the apparent/obvious bias in the refereeing of Cal games, there were Cal fans who defended him and steadfastly praised him.
