With the portal transfers, new freshmen, and current Cal roster players, any predictions on a starting line-up for next year and team for next year?
Tyson and Bandaogo would just fill out one of the best rosters one could possibly assemble from where we've been.Bearly Clad said:
Still have two open roster spots so it's tbd. Jaylon Tyson is predicted to us but I won't count those chickens before they hatch. So the lineup very much depends on who fills the last two spots because that could be 40% of our starters or a starter and key backup, etc.
yes, that would be very very goodMoragaBear said:
Or Woodbury and Bandaogo
Not speaking to the available NIL funds situation but how many times where Cal was after but missed out on targets did the players all have a very strong connection with the HC and/or staff and players? That makes this a unique situation for all three.parentswerebears said:
Realistically, though, what are the chances that we can get 2/3? I expect 1, if that. How many times have we gotten our hopes up only to be dashed. We may have a new, high octane, highly motivated coach, but this is still Cal. I know there is a lot of optimism, but is there enough money behind it to bring in Bandaogo and one of the other two? Can't remember which mod said it, but more needed to be raised a week ago. And Tyson seems less likely to be here every day.
Tyson is also connected to Scherbenske, who was his asst coach at Tex Tech.GoldenBasketBear said:
Great point. Tyson is connected to Fardaws, Aziz & Woodbury connected to Madsen and the former UVU staff he has brought along. Definitely realistic to get 2/3. If you can get all 3 (waivers approved & NIL proposal is enough), do you run a scholarship player out or do any of them voluntarily do so?
This is all so exciting. Haven't felt this way since Cuonzo days!
IMHO that would be great!parentswerebears said:
I expect Woodbury. That's it.

Jalen Cone is a high level 3pt shooter, along with Woodbury, especially with his range from well beyond 3. Will be interesting to see where that last scholly goes; do you wait for Bandaogo or Woodbury or go get the best available at the moment?
Aziz and Tyson would really give us a chance to be good. I mean NCAAs good. There I said it.parentswerebears said:
You are so right! It is, but knowing what could potentially come in in addition, it feels…. Not quite enough. After I posted this I was kind of embarrassed by it because compared to the last few years, it's an embarrassment of riches.
