Well my family is on Oahu and they are out of harm's way, but the complete annihilation of Lahaina is devastating and heartbreaking. Front Street in Lahaina Town is not only the shopping district and tourist area, but it has special importance in Maui and Hawaii's history as a prominent seat in the Hawaiian Kingdom, with remnants of developments in missionary work and the sugar industry. All that burned to the ground with shocking quickness. Except the iconic banyan tree remains, singed but still standing. This will having lasting effects not only on Maui but the rest of Hawaii. Pray for Maui and Hawaii.
