What can we sell recruits on

We should list positives that we can use in recruiting pitches to recruits. With a new HC and outlook on the program, I think we have a lot to offer- but we'll need to think of things, because the truth is we still have some deficiencies: no practice facility, very poor record in recent memory, etc.

That being said, here are a few things to get the ball rolling:

1) World class education
2) An NBA head coach who can prepare players (especially big men) for the NBA/professional basketball
3) Bay Area has lovely weather + Berkeley has a beautiful campus

I know many of the things we list will probably be secondary to the item of utmost importance: NIL. But chances are we'll have to land recruits in the future where we simply can't be the top offer in terms of $. And then, we'll have to have various reasons why the recruit should join us despite any NIL shortcoming

How about telling kids they'll be playing in the best basketball conference in the nation, with games every year against Duke, North Carolina, etc.

West Coast recruits can have their families watch half these top notch games in person. And we'll go after East Coast recruits who are interested in getting a CA experience at a top notch institution, yet want to stay tied to home through away games in the ACC footprint.

I think we have a lot to sell. I'm rather giddy.

If we land in the ACC, the sky is the limit for basketball.

We can probably be competitive in terms of NIL in basketball.

Football is going to be tough anywhere.

Yup. ACC hoops is like a dream. For one thing the opportunity you sell kids is exposure - frankly a lot more than they will get in the B1G. (B12 is, however, going to be a MONSTER hoop conference).

However, it will demand the university get off its ass. THe upside is that there are institutions FAR better academically than U of A or Oregon so the admin is going to have a hard time explaining why Cal can't have the same admission standards as a highly competitive (and successful) R1 like Georgia Tech.

Hopefully, lots of NIL opportunities.

I mean ACC would still be the premier basketball conference if Syracuse and Louisville weren't down.

It will be fun to join at this stage because they are all great programs in my mind, but would be less fun if we had no chance.
