Maybe Askew or Brown in for Cone then? It's hard for me to find a place for Cone in a big lineup.
My idea with Celestine was positionless basketball with everyone 6'6" or more being able to guard almost every position.
Coach will have Cone in the line up as much as possible regardless of match ups - He is that good and the best shooter on the team. Great leader and the team looks up to him. Jerome Randle like, is the hoped for comparision. Agree on Celestine as staff wants him 100% healthy, given his shooting and ability to play multiple positions - so when healthy He is in the top 7. Askew thus far has accepted his role and is playing at a better level than last season. But it only counts when the games begin!
How many times have you had the privilege to see them practice?
twice and the energy level, conditioning and skill level is very good. Team seems to be tight with each other and all the coaches are really hands on. Much higher level of multiple coach involvement than previously. Hopefully the guys stay healthy, as the first 7 are really playing at a high level and even the 8-10 will occasionally see the floor.
@4thGenCal sometime X'd that they heard we lost to Boise State by 15 in a scrimmage? True? If so any initial concerns? Scrimmage usually means nothing, but perhaps helps us to identify glaring things we have to work on early. On perhaps we need to downgrade our ambitions a little?
Expect a season as bad or worse than last year and you'll finally be able to enjoy Cal basketball this year
When will hit the 3 win mark (not Fox, Madsen)?
Third game of the season. I am sure madsen played alot of players in the Boise game
I'm sure Boise played a lot of players, too.
The biggest concern is Tyson appeal not yet being resolved. We need a public shaming campaign against the NCAA if they don't get their act together and get this approved before the season starts. Dragging it out like this is unacceptable.
Likely they are still investigating. I'm curious why the this is taking so long. Is there a time table? Are they over burden with requests? Is there no internet site where they post acceptance and denials?
What is the basis for the waiver request? Does he have a good case? He is from Plano, Texas, played for Texas, transferred to Texas Tech and now has transferred to Cal. I really want him to be eligible this season but I am wondering how strong our case is?
Interesting article discussing the situation:
https://theathletic.com/4450771/2023/04/26/college-basketball-transfers-ncaa-waiver/?amp=1"Now, a waiver request must meet one of three criteria: mental health, exigent circumstances outside the student's control (such as "physical or sexual assault or discrimination based on a protected class") or assertions involving diagnosed education-impacting disabilities."
