Was on pins and needles refreshing the score on line! Great win! My gosh. Is the team finally coalescing into the team we hoped they would be?

Also - have we ever won a game where askew played in? I think last year here he was out for all of our wins.

Tyson is for real

Shout out to Larson!

The Bears showed major heart in that 2nd half. Lots of good to build on, and a ton of confidence displayed coming down the stretch.

Tyson is clearly our go to dude at the end of games when everything is on the line and we need a bucket. I can't imagine where we'd be if his waiver didn't get approved.

Such an awesome win, especially on the back of beating UCLA on the road. Go Bears!!!!

can colorado can't use the excuse that they had players out with injury

actually cal has more players out than colorado in this game (Okofor, Askew)

Whatever else happens in this game, it appears the Cal players are considerably tougher than the handful of f@ucking quitters posting tonight.
I am responding to this post because it deserves to be shown again.

give it up to Grant too

3-5 shooting including 2-3 from deep
FOUR aggressive rebounds

when he plays with fire and confidence he looks like the player he could be from last year

Man! What a win!

I remember watching the days when Cal was good (Braun, Monty, and then Martin). I also watched all of the Wyking + Fox games which were very painful. So refreshing to see some wins after dreadful years of Cal Basketball. This win has me feeling that we are on the right track!

Great game and a fun watch. There were some growing pains but once everyone accepted that this is Jaylon's team the quality of the on-court product jumped way up. Madsen coaches a team that fights hard and never quits and deserves tons of credit for that but Tyson is the Magic making everything work (his early eligibility questions and a couple nagging injuries didn't help either). Can't wait to watch him in the NBA next year.

I know he's gone and eventually I'll let it go too but this team in every game shows more heart, more toughness, more energy, and more will than in 5 years combined under Fox. It feels so good to see that one year turnaround and have all the stink washing away

Relax bud. I'm very happy with the fight of this team and there was a collective effort to bring them back in. However, your best friend Aimaq didn't have much of an impact on the comeback in fact, he allowed Colorado's big to have a career night. Gus Larson certainly played well, deserved more minutes. Hope you dream about more Aimaq double double's tonight. Great win by still 6-10 and they have to continue to build off the last two games if Cal wants to be taken as a serious program again.

that second half was the most fun I've had watching basketball in a very long time. Big three's, thunder dunks and a huge comeback over a very good team. I'll be up for a while. too fired up to go to bed.

Same. Tyson's two hand dunk to take the lead was awesome! Rallying from 20 down...shades of Jorge vs furd. Great night in Haas.

Cal basketball is fun and entertaining again!. I don't know what Madsen told them at halftime, but they sure came out on fire after a horrible first half.

Back from the game. Kinda fun to read through this thread. I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't feeling exactly sanguine when we were down 40-20. I can't really explain what happened, except to say that I'm glad the players and coaches hung in there and stayed positive. Go Bears!!!

Aimaq does a lot of things well. But he's also a liability on defense… so much so that it completely takes us out of the game sometimes. Because teams will just go after him relentlessly.

However, I think madsen is finally figuring out that aimaq can't guard centers 1 on 1 and he's sending help. Sometimes even a strong double team. This has greatly mitigated aimaq's defensive deficiencies and allowed us to play somewhat solid defense.

At halftime my wife said we could win. All I could say was a half-hearted anything is possible.

Then the second half - it's amazing how hitting a few threes can open up a defense and boost a team's adrenaline.

Fardaws had a very tough assignment tonight. He came up with a huge defensive play during the 2nd half comeback. He also had a big put-back and another huge bucket during the comeback. He had 6 offensive rebounds (led all players, including Lampkin) in only 24 minutes. Fardaws is second in the league in offensive rebounding. Offensive rebounds are almost never gimmes. Dude is working his ass off and giving the team critical production in areas where no one else on the roster can. He's playing way more minutes than he should have to. How about we not rip him?

What a game, this may turn out to be the most memorable game of the season. Loved the Jaylon show, sad that we may only have him for two more months… NBA-bound if he keeps this up.
Another interesting stat that came out on the post-game show: Gus Larsen was a +12 for the game, best on the team. This guy needs more minutes, I don't think he should just be the "when Aimaq fouls out" guy.
What's with bearister's unprovoked anger about attacks on Aimaq, is he his uncle or something?
It's just hoops talk, man.

So happy about the win!!!! So many fans gave up! I'm glad this team didn't! This is a far cry from the teams we've had the past 5 years! Better energy, better effort! The are taking on the personality of the coach…a little awkward as a player, but damn, madsen was effective through massive effort.

Areas of improvement:

1. Turnovers on sloppy passing
2. Need to take opponent's made shots out of bounds faster to not allow pester press to even form
3. Need to break the press more effectively
4. Further the talent of the younger players and be strategic in the portal (Madsen's strength)

I don't know if it's a defining play, but on Tyson's last jam to push the lead to 77-73, Cone has set a pick, but is more like a right tackle (pushing and) keeping the CU player out of Tyson's lane to the basket. And he looks so tiny and trying so hard to keep that pick.

Honestly, RA, you tell the guy to relax, but then you go on to make your comment about the other guy dreaming about Aimaq and his double double. Relaxing works both ways.

Bottom line. We're half way through the year and we've seen enough of Aimaq now to know what he brings us. Overall, he is still a definitive positive for this team. But college basketball, like many sports has games when the particular matchups of players is a key. Last night's game was simply a bad matchup for FA. Last night, Larson was the right guy to bring in. FA was too slow to keep up with their big guy and D Curtis was too thin. Not rocket science. There will be upcoming games that FA will excel in, while Larson doesn't see a minute on the floor. Basketball 101.

"Cal's Jaylon Tyson: Went 8-for-8 in the second half with 23 of his career-high 30 points. Tyson also was 7-for-7 on free throws."
