I know there are still 8 games left in the season, so we don't want to get ahead of ourselves, but the turnaround in Berkeley is Lazarus-like... simply amazing and will start getting noticed nationally. And it's a great story. Cal almost relegated, having to find a home in the ACC... A once proud program decimated the last six years, officially on its road back. Local kid who is incredibly likeable coming back to where he grew up to be coach... and that wonderful local twist of following in our last conference championship coach's shoes by being from our rival!!! One of the oldest venues in college hoops (renovated but still considered historic) is once again pulsating with excitement - a SOLD OUT crowd for a late Wednesday night game!! We're winning (we have to keep winning), But this story is writing itself!
And a further delicious add is that Madsen is basically paying for himself and then some. Last night we have easily 7,000 more people in there than we would have last year or the year before. I'm just back of envelop here, but just for that one game that is an extra $350K in revenue.
Wow, it feels good to be Cal again!!!
