Has anyone seen the State Farm Insurance Ad on TV with a guy who resembles Coach Braun? He has the same facial features, hair color and style and body shape and size. The actor? falls across the car windshield.

He retired from coaching 10 years ago at 60, after an unsuccessful stint at Rice, where his record was 63-128. I thought he'd do a bit better there.

Was a good (almost great) scout and recruiter at Cal but not a good coach. At Rice he had no recruiting advantage.

Braun started out well at Cal. He went to the NCAA tournament in four out of his first seven seasons and won an NIT championship. Then he seemed to lose his touch and never recovered at Cal or at Rice. It is a real head scratcher.
