You just know that, had the roles been reversed, Kennedy's groin would have been deemed to have been "in the cylinder" and called for a foul after a 15 minute review. Not sorry that we won't be seeing these clown shoe Pac12 refs after a few more games.

My Pac 12 Network, now in its final month, went on the fritz late in the first half and I missed the Kennedy ejection.
Can somebody post a clip? Not that his presence would have been enough to change the outcome of this stinker...
I don't think the should have been any call, and if there was a call there is no way it should have been a F2.
They showed a UCLA player get a F2 for a similar play that they showed on TV, but there was no similarity between the two plays as it was clear the UCLA foul was intentional and continued way after the initial 'hit'
My guess is one or more of the refs saw or heard about the UCLA F2
Kennedy is a starter and it hurt our depth playing in altitude. We still would have lost, but I don't think it would have been the blowout it was

Exactly. Just a low arm bar that they somehow twisted into a Flagrant 2--probably, as you say, because they heard about the WSU game. It did spell the end for Cal sooner rather than later.HoopDreams said:

Maclean is a pompous jackass, always has been. An fucla grad, and doesn't like Cal. I saw the replay, and the clip of the ref delivering the call to the desk. It was almost like Maclean knew it was coming, as he predicted it even before the replay. Yes, Cal was not gonna win this game, that was clear after the first 10 minutes, but the ejection effectively ended the game, IMHO.

I respectfully disagree with your opinion about MacLean. If you've been watching the Pac 12 games this season, there is no way you can come to the conclusion that he doesn't like Cal. He's praised them over and over, especially in recent weeks.sonofabear51 said:

That being said, I think him and everyone else missed the boat on that call. The fact that both players were very low to the ground, that Keonte was truly losing his balance, should have been considered more strongly by the refs. There's a reason why THERE IS an F1, and an F2. At the worst, it should have only been an F1.
+100. He knows hoop and he has a sense of humor similar to Brad Duggan, former CCSF hoop coach who did color for KTVU broadcasts of college games in the 1980's (with Steve Physioc?). Brad knew hoop and had a Bill Murray vibe (like he might have slammed down a couple of whips at the Irish Cultural Center before putting on the headset).
If Deonte had a reputation as a dirty player, I would have thought it looked pretty shaky. Every time they replayed it…it looked worse…until the last replay when it looked unintentional. My guess is the Ute pulled a "nuts flop" to sell it.
Now if Draymond had done that…..

I disagree as well. MacLean is probably the best color guy on Pac 12 Network (I know, it's a low bar). And no color guy has said more positive things about Cal this season. Heck, he was even giving us praise throughout this game, even though we were getting our behinds handed to us.sonofabear51 said:

Agree with that last phrase. It certainly ended the game for me. I had to turn it off in disgust. Checking the final score, it looks like the team felt the same.sonofabear51 said:

When Don Maclean started announcing Pac12 games his UCLA bias was very evident. Not anymore. I enjoy listening to games he broadcasts. And he has been saying he thought Cal could be a much better team by the end of the season all year.

I agree 100% with your disagreement... and I couldn't stand him when he played at (F)UCLA. Pleasant surprise now.
I second the motion (no pun intended). Maclean is probably the only color analyst on the Network worth paying attention to. I guess Walton, too, though his ego is outsized. Both UCLA guys, and they both like the Bears.
One thing Maclean said in a recent game was that he wonders w the new NIL money how many guys are happy to sit on the bench and take their check. Made me think maybe Kennedy wanted to be ejected instead of deal w playing at altitude in a game his team had almost no chance of actually winning.

Players want to play. It's been their life since they were little kids. Kennedy lives for that next steal and slam and will continue to do so until he can no longer get up there.
College athletes I talk w say NIL has dramatically altered some things. But what the hell do I know? Kennedy has been at Cal a whole year now. He is probably super committed and might even like Telegraph Ave!

No one is asking you to go away. But before you throw out a statement that speculates on a players' emotion or desire to specifically quit in the middle of a game, wouldn't a decent thing to do first is to have the smallest bit of specific evidence to back it up? I guess in this age of public conspiracy theories it has become acceptable to say anything. To conclude that what a TV commentator said about "some guys" is a conclusion based on non specific heresay. Just my opinion.

I would also point out that there is a difference between "preferring to sit on the bench" as opposed to a player who is already in a game "wanting to be ejected" in an effort that would be regarded by most as flat out quitting.JOB said:
