Just took a look at the UConn roster, only 4 seniors and grads. Dynasty? I have a feeling they won't have a problem with losing their entire roster to the portal or the NBA.
Dan Hurley may be a jagoff but what he has done at UCONN is unreal and it's hard to hate on a team that is so spectacularly dominant.

Love him or hate him, Coach Hurley is authentic and genuinely exceptional.

Just think of the burden on him of growing up the way that he did, living with the successes of his brother. Dude was a modest player at Seton Hall and began his career, like his father (Bobby Sr) as a high school coach in North Jersey.

"If I am one of those [faces of the sport], I'm probably a good one because I'm authentic, and I am who I am," he said. "I'm basically a high school coach that's like masquerading up at this college level. I don't really care what people necessarily think of my intensity, it obviously shows up the right way with my team. We don't cheat, we don't lie. I think we're about all the right things. Just, at times, I'm an a--hole."

How Dan Hurley became the face of UConn Huskies basketball - ESPN

And while some of the roster has turned over, Hurley's intensity has remained relentless.

"They're not going to get some guy that's going to rest on his laurels after winning one, and he's just going to go and ring the bell at the stock exchange and go hang out with [President Joe] Biden, and then he's going to take a year off and do the honeymoon [things]," he said. "I'm an obsessed coach, and I'm going to be more of a maniac the next couple of days than I was leading up to this. I promise you.

"And then when this season's over, it's going to be worse."

"Cults don't end well. They really don't."

I really respect/respected the basketball minds of Bobby Knight, Coach K and the Hurley brothers.
They all share a common characteristic: I so much more enjoy their personalities as losers rather than winners.

So what's your opinion on the emotionless Cal head coach Justin Wilcox?

Dude can't even crack a smile during a Spring Camp interview.

So I've never really watched women's basketball before (really just wanted to watch so I could watch that LSU woman lose).

But wow! That Caitlyn Clark is the real deal. She's basically Jason Kidd if he could shoot like Steph. Her passing and bball IQ is off the charts.

Clark was also Iowa's leading rebounder with 7. Not to mention 41 points and 12 assists. Kidd may have been a better defender.

Caitlin Clark puts on masterclass with 41 POINTS in Iowa win over LSU

*Mulkey is old news now. She should embrace the hit piece to stay relevant.
I hear she was going to wear Gram Parsons' Nudie suit in the National Championship Game.

I quit watching 10 years ago when my daughter was finished playing in high school. I watched Iowa v LSU and now USC v UConn. Boy, the women's game gone and done got better on me. I'm enjoying it a lot. They play with better fundamentals than the men. Very little traveling compared to men.
Juju Watkins has better shooting mechanics than a man.

I hate to enforce this on myself but…

First time I watched Clark and Angle play in a whole game

Both great players, but Caitlyn … Wow!

Angel fouls to the body every time she blocks a shot. No whistle and crickets from the game broadcasters.

Before today I've only seen highlights of her. I assumed that she was just a really good scorer.

But I've never seen a college player able to manipulate a defense just with their court awareness and passing ability as well as her, besides Jason Kidd.

Obviously I have no idea how the WNBA works, but does "golden state" have a chance at drafting her. Can they win the lottery (if that's even how it works?)

yes, Angel and the entire LSU team plays super physical and are coached to foul

but Angel also grabbed 20 rebounds

although I read she also only scored 1-10 baskets in the second half

one thing I noticed ... after all the trash talking, can't see you, ring finger, etc, Angel and Caitlin were not in each others face at all during the game from what I could see on TV

My feelings are just like yours. The game used to be horrible to watch. The improvement is amazing and a lot of us have to admit they shoot better than the men. The quality of play is so much better than it was there is no comparison. There were a few good athletes back a decade or two, but only a couple of good teams. Now it is competitive and passing, shooting, scoring wise is as exciting as the men's. I still can't get over what goes on underneath the basket though when a shot goes up. Nothing seems to be in the air. Feet on the ground. Muscling by pulling, tugging, etc. That I don't care for compared to the men's game inside. Otherwise, kudos to the great progress, and a ton of excellent players.

"Clark now has two NCAA tournament games with 40+ points and 10+ assists. Every other man and woman who has ever played in the NCAA tournament has zero. LSU coach Kim Mulkey on what she said to her in the handshake line: "I sure am glad you leavin'. Girl, you something else. Never seen anything like it."

UCONN Women have always been fun to watch.
Back in the Gottlieb era we played one game against UCLA where both teams were playing brutal physical defense and neither team could make a shot. I think both scored in the 40s and it was one of the ugliest basketball games I've ever seen.

OTOH I've long admired what Tara has done with Stanford.

They didn't cover her.
They let her run free in the 3rd and she went wild with 3 big bombs.
Iowa isn't all that great if she's tied up.

Same happens to Steph. If you harass him endlessly he can be slowed. Box and 1. Deny ball. Rotate the defender to keep fresh legs on her.

Oh, this is so Golden on so many levels!
You've been ripping on women's hoops for years and years. And now to hear you caught up in the Clark story and realizing that it's actually pretty darn good…. And recanting…. Hahaha!!!! That's just classic.
You can never use your women's hoops board joke again!

PS: by the way, I've watched Iowa 3x this year and both ganes yesterday. YES, womens hoops is WAY better than years ago.

You could make the same statement after every game Michael Jordan, Kobe, LeBron or Steph schlonged a team. Like them, she is that much better than everybody else out there. She will foul out anyone who tries to play her tight. Zone won't work since she shoots NBA distance 3's. If they double team her she will find the open teammate.
Back to my old mindset: The rest play like little girls compared to her.
