There are usually some late mock drafts that come out and they are often the most accurate. I haven't seen 'em.

I'm gonna predict he goes with the 25th pick* (w/o knowing who currently owns that pick). What say ye?

* That he goes that early might be aspirational, I dunno. Hoping for the best for this Golden Bear!

My prediction is either to the Thunder (12th pick) or Lakers (17th pick)

The latest ESPN mock draft has him going to the Celtics with the last pick of the first round.

He's pretty much universally predicted to go late first or early second. I think the second round would be his absolute floor in a weak draft though. I'm predicting him to surprise some folks and land in the early 20's. Here's where I'd like to see him go though:

-23 to Milwaukee. Dame and Giannis are two of my favorite players in the game. They could have a bounce back season next year and it would be great to see Jaylon picking up solid minutes, or even starting, on a team that could make some waves in a very weak East.

-27 to Minnesota. A young and talented team that should be fighting for WCF bids for the next several years. He could be an ideal fit there since they need another ball handler, shot creator, and reliable scorer outside of Edwards. He can do all of that but wouldn't be relied on to be the main threat at any one. For a jack-of-all-trades player like Jaylon that would be a match made in heaven. Since they're already young and have their stars his age wouldn't be a drawback as an older rookie with a higher floor. They also have a great defense and even though his length can be a benefit there he would have guys all around him to help out with that transition.

-28 to Denver. Jaylon would be a bench player for them because they already have MPJ and Gordon in the starting lineup but they need some bench scoring and he'd get lots of offensive touches. Playing with Jokic and competing for championships would make it fun to follow.

-30 to the Celtics. For obvious reasons, playing with Jaylen, defending champs, chance to repeat, weak conference, etc.

-16 to Philly would be cool as a budget replacement for Tobias Harris and would also mean he outperformed early draft expectations. This one could change a lot depending on trades and free agency. Will they make a move for Paul George? Will Tobias be back? How is their overall roster around Embiid gonna change before opening night?

There are some other good landing spots in the early 2nd but I want to see him off the board in the first so I'm not gonna break them down (33 Milwaukee, 35 San Antonio, 37 Minny, 39 Memphis)

#29 to Utah. At that point, you take best player available. Ainge is smart, knows talent.

NY Times The Athletic has him going at number 41 to Philadelphia. Would he accept such a low placing, and if not does he have eligibility to play at Cal another year?
I'm pretty sure he'd accept it regardless and that he'll likely go higher in any case.

Any rookie playing for the loaded Celtics is going to find it hard to get on the court. I guess a lot of blowouts???
Wonder if the Celts will look for someone really young knowing they have lots of time to develop that player.

I'd be shocked if he lasted that long. That being said, I think he goes early second round to Milwaukee, which would be a good place for him with immediate playing time.

He'd be gone regardless, he's put up good numbers in college and no matter how much he dominates on a college court it wouldn't outweigh the extra year, that's the big knock against him being drafted any higher is that he's already 23.

Plus next year's draft is considered stronger, he's better off developing in the NBA at this point. And if he did end up going in the 2nd round then he has a shorter contract and can start getting really paid faster if he proves himself

Bill Simmons has an interesting suggestion.

Bill Simmons suggests Celtics draft Bronny James and 'basically hold him hostage' (msn.com)

Also, the Celtics "are rumored" to be looking to trade the pick.

My understanding is that he can still "undraft" himself and then reenter next year's draft, but that it is too late for him to return to college and complete his eligibility. (That said, the NCAA seems to be doing anything to avoid law suits these days.)

Somebody will correct the above if I have misunderstood the way it works this year.

It could be worse. ESPN's latest mock has the Wizards using a late first round pick to take Tyson. Getting picked by almost any other team, anywhere in the draft, would be better.

20th pick! He must have impressed in workout because the highest mock was last in 1st round.

Jaylon getting paid! Congrats, young Old Blue!

Most mocks I saw had him in the 20s.

Regardless, congratulations to Jaylon! Good luck in Cleveland! But with his work ethic and athleticism, he'll likely outplay his pick.

Good for him, I'm glad he got some respect instead of dropping too late. Kinda wish he'd maybe lasted another pick or two, the Cavs are good but if they lose Donovan Mitchell then their outlook is a little bleak

20th pick gets $2.681 mill first year salary.
How much does he kick back to CAL's NIL fund?

Ha ha. Good one.
Big congrats to Jaylon. Went higher than any of the mocks predicted. He'll do the Bears proud I'm sure. It was my privilege to watch him play here for a season. A season he was almost denied.

We can hit him up when (hopefully) he gets to his second contract.

The good news for Cal right now is that, with all the love that Madsen has shown Jaylon Tyson, we can see that our current staff really gets it. If we even have NIL that is somewhat competitive, we are going to be bringing in some pretty good talent in the coming years.
