With 5 minutes to go, Bears are 2-22 from three but 20-38 from two.
Hmmmmm
If we'd just put our foot on the line we'd be winning!

Two years into the Madsen experience and I'm doubting it's gonna provide us with much postseason exposure. In the current era of the transfer portal coaches need to be able to win now, there is no concept of player development.
C'mon, no need to go there, it simply ain't gonna happen. Keep it real.Calfan92 said:
What's the buyout for Madsen? #unbearable.
What I am looking for is some sense of coaching adjustments.barsad said:
Have to agree with Redless on this one, we're not talking about that this year. But the more interesting question is what year would we need to start talking about it if we assume that the team doesn't get any better? I've said before that he gets three seasons to prove he's the guy, so that would mean we're talking about a buyout a year from now. Too soon? Too late? All I know is that he doesn't get to the end of his contract (2030!), fans don't have the patience for that.
Funny, I'm not sure Jones had a system or even knew what a system was. Those teams struggled to even inbound the ball it was so bad!ncbears said:What I am looking for is some sense of coaching adjustments.barsad said:

Jones' downfall, in my opinion, was that he wanted to run a system for which he did not have the personnel and it took him several games before trying another system - and, that system didn't work well either. Jones, at least, could have said he didn't have the players he had selected, but rather, inherited. This is Madsen's team - with players he selected.
True. In this era, it really rewards roster construction (talent and function) and elite in game coaching. In the roster constructions, coaches will have to find guys who already know and play with the proper fundamentals. That would be someone like Rytis, who is not super athletic, but seems to be in the right places for boards and spacing on offense -- as well as hustles.touchdownbears43 said:

Wyking's downfall is that he was a wildly incompetent and unprepared *******.ncbears said:What I am looking for is some sense of coaching adjustments.barsad said:

Is it just me or does Madsen come off as a little bit of an airhead sometimes in pressers? Love his enthusiasm and positivity but I get the sense that he's not the sharpest knife...I mean he did go to Furd so not surprising lol.ncbears said:What I am looking for is some sense of coaching adjustments.barsad said:

You mean there's an ACC team whose defense is worse than ours? Who is it and are they still on our schedule?HoopDreams said:
I don't think it's necessarily Madsen's coaching, although sometimes it is and I thought he should have assembled a better coaching staff
I think the core issues are:
1. lack of continuity ... no power conference team in the nation has all new players in their top 10 rotation (#350 in player continuity)
2. shooting - before the season my concern was shooting and that's turned out to be true (#18 in 3 pt shooting in ACC). I've said many times, the game of basketball is a lot easier if you can shoot
I've been surprised by:
3. Our good rebounding (#37 offensive rebounding, #2 in ACC). Sissoko, Rytis and Ola-Joseph are our best rebounders
4. how horribly bad our defense is (our BIGGEST problem - #17 in ACC)
I think it comes down to point guard recruiting. Retaining Askew and choosing Cone and Vlad. And now Blacksher Jr and Tucker. Think a lot of the issues stem from those choices. Wilkinson was a good find, and should be getting bulk of the minutes. I like Semetri Carr. Hopefully his size won't be as big as a liability as for Cone and Blacksher Jr.HoopDreams said:

Unfortunately, that statement reminds me of something I heard a politician say about four years ago in Georgia.barsad said:
We win tomorrow, too… that's 3 wins, halfway to 14 wins total. Find me 3 more.
Our teams better find ways to get used to it. That goes for basketball and every other sport in the ACC with similar travel schedules.bencgilmore said:
No one likes it when I bring this up... But that looked like a tired team out there given the shooting woes. Traveling cross country for a wednesday game has consequences
