we are better with Andrej
I think Madsen did a masterful game plan adjusting the offense and defense for his absence
Our offense doesn't have shooters or a major post offensive player, but we do have slashers who can get into the paint and finish or get fouled. We have a tough, strong rim protector that is also a very good rebounder, especially on the offensive side, and he also puts pressure on the defense and scores on rebounds and hustle plays
Our players played with heart and locked down on defense. A huge part of that was Rytis.
This was no accident. We didn't get lucky. We played smarter, with more heart, teamwork and grit.
Even the FSU coach said that
What's interesting here is that I tend to agree you, but at the same, give JW, DJ, and JOJ a decent three point look and they're all fairly accurate.
We should theoretically be an okay to decent 3 point shooting team, but so many guys besides JOJ are underperforming. DJ was 40% last year, Rytis 35%, Blacksher has had multiple 40% seasons on decent volume. Part of it is the step up in competition, part of it is our offense doesn't lead to a lot of good looks.
Andrej and JOJ are shooting their career averages and both coincidentally (or not) came from power conferences.
Agree. The biggest surprise to me is Rytis's poor shooting. He didn't score that many points there throwing up airballs. I think part of it is in his head, and that he is capable of being a solid catch and shoot player
Andrej is not surprising. He is now the focus of the defense compared to be a 4th option on his stanford team
But being a son of an elite shooter who obviously is involved in his basketball, I think his shooting will improve. When it does he will be off to the NBA
What I've been surprised with Andrej is his ability to get to the rack, and his shot blocking ability
agree with you on JOJ
