Last year's team would beat this team, probably half the time. Actually, both teams would find a way to lose all of them.

I won't miss many players on this team, but I will miss Sissoko a lot.

We have a lot of overtime experience, and experience matters.

Double OT, 8-0 run…. I like it!

Goodness. Up eight. How did that happen after missing everything so long?
And with Mady fasting. Finally taking some water.

He's awesome. Probably the only one that'll stand out in my memory as well. Just a monster

Getting the shots to Stojakovic (and Sissoko) and away from Wilkinson and Blacksher.

In 2018 at least Wilcox had a very formidable defense and was competitive in every game (except for the mid-season swoon with Garbers out) and beat some decent squads, we were shockingly awful when Madsen took over but for us to be shredded by bad teams still in year 2 is disturbing

Anytime your opponent shoots 3-25 from 3, and you squeak out a double OT win, you have to take it!

But seriously, it may have been ugly, but I give our guys credit for never giving up, even when it seemed bleak. Maddy is a monster, and Andrej made just enough buckets to get us over the finish line.

F Stanfurd.

Not that it matters but we haven't had a 14-win season in 5 years until today, and if we win tomorrow that would be our best result since Cuonzo (2016-2017)

Wow. Just a reminder how bad this stretch has been. Despite the win improvement, I'm still not sold on this coaching staff. The team strikes me as less than the sum of its parts.

In any event, great, gutty win and so happy for the seniors to be able to at least play one last college game.

4 OT, then 2 OT. I'm hoping for 6 OT against Stanford.

It really does matter…. a lot.
What we saw today is a window into the kind of team Cal can be next year. If we have a big man as good (or hopefully slightly better on offense) as Mady, Andrej ups his game and keeps dropping 20-30 points, and Wilkinson does his thing, we can get to 18-20 wins next year, March Madness in 2027.
Win 14 is psychologically important for the players, coaches and fans. Any Cal fan who tries to dump on the team for ONLY 14 and play Debbie Downer at the end of this season should just turn in his diploma and go root for Duke.

Cal has been a very reliable cover and pay team. Much more satisfying when they win but it has more often been a loss but cover and pay.

Madsen is better than Fox or Wyking. Low bar to clear, yes, but he has cleared it. I'm still not seeing that he's good enough to have a winning team here, but of course things can change.

I wonder if we might see Pavolvic if Blacksher and Wilkinson cant go tomorrow . None of bench guards have played

Well, an empty chair would be better than Wyking. As of now, slightly better than Fox - at least Madsen actually engages fans/donors. This offseason and next year may very well provide a definitive verdict on this staff.
