Was that Stojakovic block call really a block? Could've went either way but who cares. We fought and that is all that mattered

dunno if many will agree, but that was the most fluid, free flowing game of basketball i've seen in a long time. very few fouls (i think only 2 FTs combined before half?), both teams shot really well. honestly what basketball should be (and rarely is, especially at the college level). cal came to play, just too much shooting and some crap calls late.

I hope it's not Aiden Mahoney. He averaged 4.4 points and 1.8 assists in 12 min for UConn this year. The ACC is a tougher conference. We need athletic guards that can defend, shoot from the mid range-3ball, and penetrate to basket to score or kick out. Sorry to bag on the kid. We need better players.

Stojakovic put up horrible numbers at furd last year and look at him now. Take a chance on the kid - he knows how to score and I promise he ain't no jovan blacksher

He might not be the player people expected him to be, but I think his abysmal year is a confidence issue. Getting out of a high profile program and playing under an encouraging coach like Madsen will do wonders for his play. He won the starting job at UConn out of practice and is better than any guard on the roster besides Stoja and Wilkinson. Good player to buy low on.

I thought the word on the street was there may be some non basketball issues with his admission:?

The bottom line is he wants to come home really bad. No more bag chasing - he learned his lesson. Last go around, Mahaney was set to commit to Cal before chasing that bag. From what I've heard, there have been talks with the coaching staff already about coming this offseason.

I have no clue what his grades are, but Madsen has been able to work with the admissions office to get guys that were not academically strong into Berkeley (Jaylon Tyson).

Face it.

Madsen's future is now.

If he can maintain most of the roster, get a few critical pieces, work the frosh into the lineup, and pick up a few free agents …

We will be competitive next year.

If everyone bolts like last year, we are looking a an ugly broken record.

Yes, I'd take Aiden on a big discount.

Losing to Furd always hurts, but I'm proud of the guys and what they showed the conference the last three games of the season. Yes, they lost two of them in heartbreak fashion, but they never quit and at times were playing that "fluid basketball" another poster mentioned. If Reynaud doesn't run all the way back to block Stoja's three and that shot goes in, we might be talking about Cal playing one more game.
Mahaney? Ma-hell-yeah. We need some big recruits in the offseason, but there's real hope with these last games that I didn't feel until just last week. Looking forward to Bears basketball in November!

Aiden is helpful if Stojakovic, Wilkinson and a few others hand around. If there is a mass exodus of the better players whatever NIL dollars are available will need to be spent on impact players. Mahaney would be a nice compliment to Andrej, Jeremiah and some others.

Madsen was extended to 2030 so Cal has him for a bit. Hoops buyouts are not like football buyouts normally but with Knowlton who knows what he locked Cal into.

FWIW Stanford got 13 points ahead of Louisville in the second half before collapsing and losing by 2. It didn't help that Raynaud was in foul trouble and played only 23 minutes. I didn't see the game so I can't comment on the officiating.

Furd was actually up by 15 at one point, 52-37. To be honest, the officiating was pretty bad. Definitely helped Louisville get back in the game. The 3rd and 4th fouls called on Raynaud were highly questionable. And that had a big impact on Raynaud's minutes and how he could defend during the 2H. Meanwhile, Louisville's James Scott got away with a few obvious fouls, including grabbing the Furd player's arm on the final play.
