I'm guessing one who places some value on academics, location, and vibe and who also likes his coaches and teammates.

Probably not one who values money above all. And at this point not one who expects to play in the NCAA Tournament every year.

I'd like to see more international players on the team. Money should be less of an issue and Cal has a great reputation overseas. IMHO Sissoko has been a major plus and FWIW our women's team made the NCAA tournament with 3 starters from Australia, Greece, and Spain.

International players, good ones, seems to make sense...After all we have an overall top 5-10 rating of all universities, both public and private, on the international scene..With all the good players outside the USA it seems like a natural place to harvest with our reputation both with players and their families. Maybe at least there the value of the Cal education plays more than it does in the NIL world we live in now.

Isn't it still the case that international players are not allowed to receive NIL? Contributions to their charitable projects back home, but no direct NIL. Seems like a comparative advantage for Cal.

Not sure of the NIL ruling but believe you are correct, But that is no what I am appealing to---taking advantage of the academic reputation we have to gain good athletes who, and whose families, want a great education for them while playing their sport.

Recruit more international players

So far, we're losing JW, JOJ, and Omot to the transfer portal. Three of our most talented players. Has any Furd player entered the portal yet? I haven't seen one.
