Not sure how we couldn't get him some minutes pairing him with Mady or Dort, or to spell either for a few minutes. I thought that was a bit strange after a lot of good minutes he put in last season.HoopDreams said:

Our problem was defense and offense, so what's a few more fouls?stu said:
His problem was 51 fouls in 196 minutes.

Those were mostly shooting fouls. Some of them and-ones. Giving the other team two free throws every time they have the ball isn't helping the defense. It also puts them in the bonus which makes everyone else have to play more carefully.KoreAmBear said:Our problem was defense and offense, so what's a few more fouls?stu said:

That's a weird angle to focus on. I don't think preventing teams from getting in the bonus was a thing. I think the bigger problem was actually allowing shots from the field to go in at a high rate.stu said:Those were mostly shooting fouls. Some of them and-ones. I can understand that seeming weird but it does show up in the stats. What doesn't show up in stats is I remember all kinds of opposing bigs scoring easily over Larson. IMHO his offense was OK but his defense was terrible.KoreAmBear said:That's a weird angle to focus on. I don't think preventing teams from getting in the bonus was a thing. Yes I am a fan. I met him quickly at the Cal alumni pregame mixer at Pauley last year. I asked him if he was OK from that dunk on him by Caleb Love of Arizona . He gave me a quick laugh which I appreciated.barsad said:
Good luck, Gus, I wish him the best. When he got on the floor he played with grit and did his job, that's all I expect of any Cal player. Don't understand the negativity displayed above, save it for someone who actually deserves it.
I don't mean to be negative. It's nice to root for a guy who has some talent, plays with 100% effort, and gets his Cal degree. I never met him but he also seems like a good dude. My comments were an effort to explain why he didn't get more playing time.KoreAmBear said:Yes I am a fan. I met him quickly at the Cal alumni pregame mixer at Pauley last year.
