I don't hate it. Maybe start a Pac 12 throwback invitational tournament for non conference schedule. 4 former Pac 12 teams, play two games each for a "championship" and consolation game. It's better than Cal Poly and Mercyhurst.
Have mercy. I tell ya, they write themselves.oskidunker said:barsad said:

Mercyhurst got in the tournament and won a game. We did neither.

Not sure where you're looking, oskidunker, but "have Mercyhurst's" last game was a big regular season win against mighty Chicago St.
Ineligible for postseason play when moving up to Div 1.

The only reason I can see for this game being played at Chase is if it's part of a doubleheader or something. Otherwise, why not play at Haas or Pauley? This game by itself will not draw any more than either school's capacity.

My guess is fucla wouldn't come to Haas.

The prospect of facing 3500 hostile fans is daunting . . .HoopDreams said:
This could have been a big game if at Haas, especially with students, but game at Chase for an extra high ticket price won't do well
Lost opportunity to bring excitement into Haasoskidunker said:RedlessWardrobe said:

Only a couple of hundred would be considered "hostile ".HearstMining said:The prospect of facing 3500 hostile fans is daunting . . .HoopDreams said:

I guess what doesn't make sense to me is why either school wouldn't have preferred a home and home for 2 years and avoid paying any rental fee to Chase
Wow, more NIL disturbance. Cal and UCLA have sufficient venues to handle attendance but their game gets played in an NBA arena with a sterile environment.96_bear said:
Typically a portion of the ticket sales goes indirectly to NIL for games located at neutral sites. That is why there are more non-conference games popping up at NBA stadiums. UCLA has been doing this for the last couple of seasons.

They could have called it the "dog burger".bearister said:oskidunker said:

Yes. IT IS AWESOME! I had my first one on my 40th B Day at the snack shack at the Olympic Club, Lake Course.
"The "Burger Dog," a unique San Francisco treat, originated at the Olympic Club in the early 1950s. Bill Parrish, who operated a mobile food trailer near Lake Merced, developed the flat, burger-shaped patty to fit a hot dog bun, using up less grill space and potentially saving money on buns. The Olympic Club, known for its long history and unique traditions, offered Parrish a permanent location inside the club, solidifying the Burger Dog's iconic status." AI Overview

If it's just for NIL, have college players compete in a 3-point shooting contest at halftime of a Warriors game. Give each player a fat appearance fee, advertising the players' names as part of the contest to justify the NIL payment, and add additional prize money for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
