I was suggested a workout video for Moses Moody, I'm a fan and want him to develop so I clicked to watch for few mins. I ignored the notes to the video and was studying the movement and theory being taught, and never noticed that they were touting Cal legend Jerome Randle coming to help with this session. Holy smokes, we need Jerome to come home and help change our team. I love when finally starts talking about keeping the center of gravity to keep you stable when making your cuts/moves so that you are actually protecting yourself injury while stabilizing your ability to make these moves and accelerate or change direction. So good.

If you are not into the finer details and watching the reps and listening to the reasoning and details, this might seem boring and long. But for those that like this stuff, I loved Jerome's input. He is really gifted both physically and as a teacher.

Before I realized it was him I was wondering how this "guy" (Jerome) helping could be so quick, fluid, and instinctual when showing the how he sees the defender and the game. Wow. Finally, I'm like wait, this dude really resembles Jerome. Could it be? Then I went and read the description and boom, of course it's Jerome.

I'm only halfway thru the vid but these are precisely the kinds of things Moody needs to work on.

One part I really enjoyed last about 5 or 6 mins starting close to the 30 min mark to about 35 min mark or so. Watching Jerome execute the drill and show where the advantage is gained is crazy. Then to work with the guy who runs the training center listen to them share ideas was gold too.

PS - It's all about the glutes man, it's all about the glutes

I've watched a lot of Randle's training videos, but none so long

I've said many times that he is an ELITE ball handler, and shooter, and scorer

Even if he can't be an assistant coach, every guard/wing should train with him

he knows how to play AND he knows how to teach

(note: nothing in the video is easy ... even though Moses can't execute these moves well he is very skilled ... it's just that there is a huge difference between where he's at and Randle)

Cool glad you liked it.

I was able to get back and finish and man it's just filled with little details that can change your advantage or lack thereof.

I especially loved near the end where he spent time with pick and roll hand off with a big up at the top of the key or really the 3 pt line. First they demonstrated and then let Moody try it, the first thing Moody did was use his left hand to pass the ball to the big but had to reach across his own body to make the pass. Jerome barked at him immediately. Told him he can NEVER make that pass again. Dudes in the NBA will knock the $#it down every time and steal it. HE said, man you do that all the time when you're on defense, you knock that pass down all the time and go the other way.

That kind of lazy pass is one of things I really hate and every body seems to do that crap. A one handed pass has a place, but it has to be the right places.

So they proceed and Moody goes over to the big after making the pass to him and reaches out and grabs the ball for the handoff. Jerome instantly jumped in a gain and said no no no. If you reach out like that to get the handoff from Draymond, it is going to get stolen every time. These long armed mfer's are gonna swipe down and knock it loose. As littler guy I learned you have to go GRAB that stuff and he proceeded to put his arms and body around the ball to secure and then almost ripped away from the big, so there would be no turnover. Then he worked on positioning Moody precisely after the handoff to maximize his potential options instead of being out of position with the ball and screener, thereby limiting his options to one rather than 3. OB Toppin (Indy Pacers) had strolled in for his session which I presume was next and had been watching for awhile. They asked OB about the hand off, and he confirmed that for sure he was gonna swipe at the ball and gonna knock it loose if wasn't secured properly.

The details were gold. Man, we could really use Jerome as an assistant and maybe a head coach some day. Some day.

I suspect he could be, but it is more dependent on what a head coach wants. So when we have a head coach that wants/needs Jerome, then perhaps he will come home.
