How long do you want to ignore this user?
> now I have this problem with computers and phones. It seems whenever I memorize how to do something on one of these infernal devices, then the software queens come up with a new way to do it, and wipe my PC or phone clean, forcing me to learn their new method. Drives me nuts.

yep, hear that; best counter-agent for this long ago retired fool is 1) No Mobile ever, 2) heavy-duty apple desktop, accepting *all* software updates, fingers crossed; aand recommended backups (ummm) what's that??

I hate touch interfaces and use my phone only when I really have to. I'm OK with laptops but I prefer the bigger screen, keyboard, and trackball on my desktop (which is actually a rackmount).

I recommend MacOS over Windows, especially in recent years, though I use neither.
