I am shocked that gambling…

"Terry Rozier, a guard for the Miami Heat, and Chauncey Billups, the coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, were among more than 30 people arrested on Thursday.'

Mo money, mo money, mo money.

"Joseph Nocella Jr., the U.S. attorney, is now describing the schemes in detail. He says that the Mafia members of several different families became involved in the rigged games that the defendants were already participating in because of their preexisting control of illegal poker games in New York City."

Didn't we see this coming for awhile now? I'm guessing this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Surprised we have not seen this get a larger response from the media.

It was the lead on Cnn.com for most of the day Wednesday with at least 4 in depth articles. I now know some particularly useless but fascinating details about how to rig auto shuffling machines so as to predict the Turn and river cards.

I didn't get a chance to go on NYtimes.com yesterday but today it is the fourth story (and I would personally agree with those ed choices - perhaps flipping 3 and 4 with Inflation and Leitia James and Hamas being above the NBA

Be cautious about "the media" and saying "what it is doing:." It is just such a painfully difficult thing to actually measure and study.

It was actually the top story on nytimes.com for a while yesterday, so I'd say it's been covered pretty extensively. I am pretty sure this isn't the last shoe to drop - I'd expect more names and charges in the coming months.

At the time I posted, there was no articles on my Google News aggregator and basically two comments, one sarcastic, to the OP. Also nothing on the ESPN TV news shockingly. You are correct, the media these days has a lot of different sources, and admittedly, like most people, I have a limited bandwidth of sources. Still I would have thought this type of thing with an active head coach and former big name player would have attracted more buzz just for sexy topic of mobsters and sports celebs. At least somewhat equivalent to Varsity Blues. Agreed '75, there likely will be more names coming.

I think the google news aggregator (I see it in mine) uses a cookie to track your click through and then feeds that to you. So the extent to which you don't click NBA or gambling or mafia stories it might not show up.

I check CNN every day first thing just to get headlines. It is WAYYYYYYYYY too focused on trump but I also read that in that he is pure gold for clicks and like a crack addict they can not say no. But I get a sense of what is going on better than any other source. When I woke up Thursday that was the lead and they kept with the story most of the day. After doing CNN if I have time WSJ, NYT and then I skim SF papers to keep up with home town news. Then LA and SD papers for work/

This is very much the case. If you go to great lengths to 'neutralize' Google tracking, they will simply undo it a week later. The other sites you mention may not be as sophisticated, but they are all doing it.

FWIW - I did this a few times to make me 'unknown' - the stuff you then get in your feed is absolutely mind blowing. This reaction explains ALOT of what's going on in the world.

I never have news pushed to me. I pull from multiple sources I trust.

The sources I trust ran stories about people protesting that war before it even started.
