Dec. 28, 1922: Ten-point code adopted (conferences, athletic eligibility, freshman rule, ban on playing pro football or for noncollegiate teams, three-year participation, no graduate students, faculty control, anti-betting, restrictions on transfers, and visits to colleges by NCAA district representatives to advocate for Association principles).


How many of those 10 points are still valid?

I'm for it, at least for those players who opt out. Then the NCAA could end the pretense that they are about supporting "student-athletes" who get paid more than their professors. I've had to change my view of these players. For me, they are young hired basketball consultants on one-year contracts. Once you get that they are just university employees, not your fellow alums, you can still root for them to succeed in the name of their employer without pretending that they bear any relationship to those four-year-and-get -your-Cal-degree guys of 20 years ago.
I would think in this no-classes environment there might be half (a quarter?) of the squad that still wants their Cal degree… they would instantly earn my respect and I could root for them twice as hard.
