Cal Signs Gabe Sularski As Newcomer For 2026-27

California men's basketball grows another Golden Bear stronger with the signing of 6-foot-6 freshman guard Gabe Sularski to join head coach Mark Madsen's program for 2026-27.

"Gabe is a versatile guard who will be a huge addition to the program," Madsen said of Sularski. "He is able to use his elite size and skill set to create for himself and his teammates. Defensively, Gabe’s size, toughness and IQ make him extremely valuable. We are excited to add Gabe to the Cal Family!"

Sularski comes to Berkeley after closing out his high school career with Layton Christian Academy in Utah. A native of Lisle, Illinois, he previously attended Lemont High and was rated one of the top high school players in the state of Illinois. He averaged 17.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game as a junior and was named the South Suburban Conference Blue Player of the Year.

A dual citizen of the United States and Poland, Sularski represented Poland at the 2024 FIBA U16 Eurobasket in Greece, where he averaged 16.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. He served up 20 points and seven assists against host Greece in the Round of 16 and topped out with a 24-point effort against Lithuania. On the club side, he competed at the 2025 and 2026 BWB Global events, playing for Chicago Bulls and Portland Trail Blazer teams, respectively. 

Sularski joins a Cal program that made big strides in 2025-26 in recording the most wins in a season (22) since 2016 and its first postseason win since 2014. Last season's squad also recorded eight games with 90-plus points scored and had five players ranked in top-100 national statistical categories.

Currently, Sularski is one of nine newcomers officially signed on for 2026-27, joining incoming freshmen Dionycius Bakare, Dominykas Daubaris and Nicolas Mitrovic along with transfers Amier Ali, Michael Cooper, Nojus Indrusaitis, Jordan Ross and Jake Wilkins.
